Carnage in the City
Date of Scene: 22 April 2024
Location: Queens
Synopsis: A rampaging Carnage is stopped by the Amazing Spider-Men and the duo of Cloak and Dagger!
Cast of Characters: Mary Jane Watson, Miles Morales, Kaine Parker, Peter Parker, Tandy Bowen, Tyrone Johnson

Mary Jane Watson has posed:
It was a relatively clear day over in New York. The sun was high in the air in a bright midday. It was restful. The breeze made the air fresh (well, by New York standards). Alas.. It was the sort of peace that never lasted long. Whether by bank robbers, whether by supervillains, whether by catastrophe..
Or in the case of a recent symbiote escapee that all of the Spiders knew too well from thier own nightmares and fights..
A red-fragmented spectre of blades moving to rush towards a large bus stuck in traffic.
The murderous Klytar symbiote linked to the serial killer Kletus Cassady.
    Aka CARNAGE!

Miles Morales has posed:
While Miles Morales is calling Gotham City home these days, it's not like it's a long trip back to New York and he frequently makes the trek back on weekends to visit the ol' homestead.

He's just sentimental that way.

Of course he didn't really plan on having to spend his few days away from school tracking down an insane, symbiote serial killer but sometimes that's the way things go.

So instead of taking advantage of the pleasant weather or getting out for a few hours with friends, Miles is swinging about the city in costume, leaping from roof to roof as he tries to hunt down this particularly nasty and dangerous threat before he strikes one more time.

Kaine Parker has posed:
Blood Spider is out patrolling. Nearly every chance he can, there's a patrol. Today is no different. He's looking for people connected to Kingpin. Blood wants to share some words with this infamous crime boss. It's lead to some sleepless nights, too. And that's when he sees that deathly red visage filled with blade and dark promises.

The other black and red spider in today's forray is there. From his vvantage, Blood will leap closer and closer until he gets a good angle. "Thwp!" he's trying to web up one of those blades at the flat end to pull Carnage's symbiote away from the target.

Peter Parker has posed:
Ahhh, to be young and carefree.

Really, Peter would like to know what it's like. He still has the youth thing going for him, though the long hours in Empire State's labs, the time at the Bugle and of oourse swinging about New York as everyone's Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man certainly makes him feel a fair bit older then his twenty-two years.

And as for carefree? Forgetaboutit. His worries have worries most days. Stupid great power makes for great responsibility thing.

So he too is out and about, dressed in his Spidey-suit instead of, you know, hanging out with friends or working on his term paper. That whole 'life' thing that he has heard so much about but so rarely gets to experience.

At the moment, the wall crawler happens to be perched on the corner of a building, knees deeply bent and fingers idly drumming on the concrete ledge underfoot.

"Mmmmm, if I was a crazy psychopathic symbiote where would I be..." he muses aloud even as that masked gaze idly flicks about the street, head casually tilted.

Stupid symbiotes and their not triggering his Spider-Sense. It makes hunting them even more difficult then other threats.

Tandy Bowen has posed:
Tandy's eyes widen as she comes to a halt next to a bus stop. There are civilians fleeing from the scene, abandoning cars and buses rather than risk being in the middle of another villainous smack around. Ty isn't with her, so her first dagger is directed towards getting his attention. It's small, and won't do much in the way of feeding, but it's a relatively fast way to get in touch for them.

Her next several blades fly directly at the red figure. A few connect, but don't seem to do much, while another two are diverted by blades and seemingly disappear into the air.

Tyrone Johnson has posed:
$tTy was just zoning out, enjoying the day they'd spent just out and about rather than holing up in their rather cracked crib. But the light-knife that hit him gave him a little jolt and when he turned to see what she was up to, what he saw didn't exactly fill him with confidence.
Big scary red thing, blades growing out of its arms, looking at Tandy with a certain "You look delicious" look about him that Ty really didn't care for. So it was time to kill the lights and see if he could eat this bad guy.

Mary Jane Watson has posed:
Carnage is a known monster to most of the unfortunate group that have had to tango with him too many times. As he goes to charge towards the bus, blades up and out in a frenzy, he's intercepted by those glowing darts shot at him by Dagger. "Oooh, were those supposed to hurt? Let me show you--" as he's fully redirected off course as the webbing from Kaine goes to impact him. His attention is now away from one set of victims - and unfortunately (or not) onto another!

Carnage's cry makes it all too easy for anyone else patrolling the area to pick up on him. The screams he and his symbiote make.

"Let me show you how it's done. Let's play a game. It goes peekaboo." His body goes to armor up over like a porcupine and suddenly going to launch dozens upon dozens of bladed darts through the air like machinegun fire at anyone in the arc of them.

"I KILL YOU!"

Shrieking with mad laughter.

Miles Morales has posed:
It is disturbing just how often that screams lead one to the scenes of crimes in New York City. Especially when horrible monsters are involved. One might think that it would be a relatively rare thing to have to worry about.

But one would be wrong.

As those screams start to sound, Miles abruptly alters his flight in mid-air, tossing out an arm and letting a webline fly as he suddenly uses that momentum to pull himself in the opposite direction.

As his next webline clips the edge of a building and he swings around it in a great sweeping arc, he spots the blood red and twisty form of Carnage up ahead just as he launches that barrage of symbiote bits. Disturbing, but effective.

Letting go of that line, Miles flings himself into free fall instead starts firing off more webbing as fast as he can to try and intercept as many of those flying bits as he can, tumbling downward to put himself between what might get through and those innocents at the bus stop.

Peter Parker has posed:
Like Miles, Pete too finds himself guided to the scene by the sounds of screams echoing up from the street below. Just a block away, when he hears them he leaps from his perch, hurdling the gap between the two buildings with graceful ease before he sets off at a sprint, doding around the various rooftop obstructions where practical or simply hurdling over it where not.

Carnage. Of all the threats to be allowed to break out. At least most of his enemies want something, are looking to accomplish something. Even if it's just revenge on him. Carnage though? He lives up to his name. More's the pity.

As he reaches the far side of the building he spots the fight already under way, sees that at the very least that he won't be alone. And while he is used to operating on his own as often as not, sometimes a helping hand is very, very welcome indeed. As Miles tries to deflect some of the projectile and he spots the pair from the recent troubles at the United Nations, Spidey takes only a moment to assess the situation, just an extra second to try and take everything in.

Then he too leaps from the building above, dropping down towards the bus stop while spraying out a solid wall of webbing to try and make sure that neither Miles nor anyone else nearby is clipped by any of those flying globs that are far more sharp and deadly then they might appear.

Landing in a crouch with arms extended in front of him, still spraying out that webbing defensively, he adds a flippant greeting. "Fancy seeing you all here. Beautiful afternoon to take down a homicidal maniac, am I right?"

Tandy Bowen has posed:
'Ohhh shit-' is the only thing going through Tandy's mind as bladed darts fly through the air. Her fingers link together, and as she draws them apart two longer, glowing blades form. Still daggers, although these are wider and more substantial than the more knife-like ones she normally throws. She spins them a few times, getting used to the weight and heft on the fly as she dances away from the nearest porcupine blades, letting one bounce off a dagger and redirecting it at a nearby tire before ducking down behind a car.

Webbing blocks her view for a moment as she peers around the edge, directing her attention to the speaking Spider-person. "Oh yes, just what I want to see on my way home. Angry porcupine goo-man terrorizing the normies. What's his damage?"

Tyrone Johnson has posed:
Ty, being the intangible on, rushed forward to try to get Carnage's attention. "Hey, yo!" he shouted, his Boston accent fairly thick, as he also opened the gate to the Darkforce dimension. Maybe this would be one of the dumb ones and he could lure him in and then close the door behind him. That'd be nice. "What, your Momma fuck a dumpster of toxic waste?" he taunted, probably unwisely.

Mary Jane Watson has posed:
The various butcher's knives that could have cloven through human flesh like a hot knife through butter are redirected and yanked away by the virtue of speed, strength, and creativity. Carnage is left fangs to face with the group of heroes that are arrayed against him.

"Shame that daddy's not about. I haven't gotten to do a taste test of him in ages." Carnage would turn both of his arms over to a pair of massive axes. One is slashed through the air, going towards the space where Dagger was as Carnage would simply try to bum rush past the protective Cloak! The next would extend over dozens of feet towards Miles, attempting to slash him in half! Then Carnage would start to grow another pair of arms, each with giant glaives upon them to meet whomever might charge in!

"You ever be a kid and play with a daddy longlegs? Just grab each little limb and yank it off, and leave the bubbly little bit on the ground helpless?"

Miles Morales has posed:
"I think this guy is crazy!" Miles offers up helpfully, the webbing doing its job in keeping all of those projectiles from finding purchase on either himself or any of the other bystanders.

But it doesn't seem to have done much to slow down the homicidal symbiote. Which is a problem.

As Carnage leaps in and casually slices through all of that webbing with those great big axe hands, the other Spider-Man on the scene throws himself into the air, twisting and turning to avoid the attack. And when he lands in a crouch again, when his arms comes up it is not to unleash another barrage of webbing, but instead toss some bioelectric energy towards the red symbiote instead, shooting off one of his venom blasts.

"Try that one on for size, Psycho!"

Peter Parker has posed:
"You're just figuring that out now?" Spidey counters at his opposite number, also tumbling away from the bus stop that seems to have become the focus of Carnage's attention, splitting up some to make it harder for the crazy symbiote killer to focus his attacks. Like it or not, he has more experience with this particular threat then most, so trying to draw his attention -- even if he doesn't have the benefit of his Spider-Sense right now -- only seems fair.

"He's not real fond of loud noises. High frequencies. Sonics," Pete calls back to Tandy as he tumbles away, sprawling and planting one hand against the sidewalk as he springs away. "Fire's even better if you've got it. He hates fire," he adds. "That goo is an extraterestrial alien bonded to a homicial serial killer. He likes to stab things, cut things, I would generally just recommend not getting too close. He's very handsy on first dates," Spidey calls back.

Glancing around, Spidey spots a nearby manhole cover and sends out a webline with that tell-tale *thwip*, latching on to it and jerking it free with one heave. Then, starting to spin the line, he builds up more momentum before letting it fly straight towards Carnage's mid-section like a very heavy discus. "No, none of us have done that you sick freak. Because we're not crazy!"

At least not in that way. Standing here, fighting things like Carnage leave it an open question about the more general state of their sanity.

Tandy Bowen has posed:
"Ya think?!" Tandy calls out, passing her daggers into one hand and flinging another set of small ones at the spines of Creepy McRed's back before diving to the other side of the car she's taken shelter behind, cringing at the sound of the axe carving itself into the side and trunk. "Ty! Can you teleport back and get my hair spray? And the bug spray too? I have an idea!" She watched enough videos online to know it would work, so if Spider-guy said this guy hated fire, well... improvised blowtorch it was. "Why can't you just snort coke like other assholes," she groused loudly at the alien-slash-serial killer as she moved between cars in an attempt to stay out of line of sight.

Tyrone Johnson has posed:
Ty trusted Tandy with his life so when she asked for hairspray in the middle of a fight for her life ... ooohh. Now hw got it. Just for good measure he made a rude gesture towards Carnage before stepping back into the Darkforce and closing the door behind him. A step later and he reappeared in their place and then headed into Tandy's bathroom to go find her hairspray. And maybe a lighter. And their medical kit, as depleted as it was. Juggling her Aqua Net and the medkit and their semi-working lighter, he stepped back into the Darkforce to reappear as a pool of Stygian blackness next to where Tandy was womanfully taking cover. "Here." he said, handing over the hairspray and their lighter. And she thought they'd never need a lighter...

Mary Jane Watson has posed:
Miles and Peter make for an effective combo. The two have fought together, trained together, and slung together. So as one goes high, the other goes low. And the blast of bio-electric shock goes to hit Carnage hard, venom blasts spiking over him. Carnage goes to shriek out over in pain and actually slows for a moment as Miles goes to fully evade him! The flung manhole goes goes to split right THROUGH Carnage's middle, leaving a gaping hole through his center that looks like someone blasted a cannonball through it.

Ther'es a quick SHOOMPH as Carnage rearranges his innards, the hole rapidly sealing over as he goes to let out a 'WOO HOOOH HAHH' and goes to launch himself towards the Spideys, a blur of blades as each limb goes to grow out a scythe, slashing and skewering at speeds approaching hypersonic and with strength that could crumble the front end of a tank!

Tandy has her moment of evasion while the Spiders take on the full force of Carnage to get ready for her plan! Though she might need something a bit stronger than hairspray. Maybe there's a convenient tanker truck? As Tyrone arrives with the returned items, the two have a moment to plan a glorious boom.

Miles Morales has posed:
Wow, that must be handy. Forget something at home and just pop on back to pick it up. Need an improvised flame thrower? Pop on home for some hairspray. Poof.

Miles doesn't have that particular advantage, though the speed, agility and ability to twist himself up into seemingly impossible poses has it's advantages. Certainly against someone that keeps on extending little bits of himself with the intent to impale him.

So even as he keeps on the move, throwing himself into the air, or behind parked cars that are flipped over by those seeking tendrils, the other Spider-Man focuses on keeping Carnage distracted, making sure that he sticks to the opposite side of Peter so that the alien symbiote and all too human serial killer within can only keep tabs on one of them at a time.

All the while tossing out those bio-electric venom blasts. "I think you're getting slower you gooey freak. Your dad definitely would have caught one of us by now," he taunts.

Peter Parker has posed:
"Oh come on! I split you in half!" Spidey protests as the two halves of the symbiote just snap back together, those dangling tendrils simply reaching out, meeting, latching on to each other then pulling the two halves of Carnage back together.

Not that Pete would actually be okay with severing someone like that. Even someone as deranged and dangerous as Carnage. But it still doesn't seem entirely fair.

Seeing as Cloak and Dagger seem to have the means to put together something fire related, the arachnid hero focuses on keeping the symbiote distracted, working in Miles to do so, circling around the deranged serial killer to make sure that he can't focus his efforts.

"He's got a point Cletus. Venom is way better at this sort of thing. When he flings a gooey space axe at you, you really have to up your game," he points, circling around until he is close to the now abandonned bus.

As much as Pete might not want to destroy city property -- and no doubt someone will snap a pick of him doing it -- the greater good calls. So he pauses that circling of Carnage for just a moment to grip the rear bumper on the bus. Straining just a little, he rips it free before abruptly leaping... right towards Carnage, swinging that big metal bumper in front of him.

Maybe as much to use as a shield as a weapon. "Okay Cletus, you slack jawed yokel, time for us to wrap this up!"

Tandy Bowen has posed:
Tandy sensed several stories between The Porcupine Creeper and the two guys slinging webs faster than Frank at the diner slung burgers and omelets during the post-bar drunk rush on weekend nights. It wasn't a good time to ask, and now that she had the arguable components of her blowtorch she was focused on getting within spray range. It was much closer than she wanted to be, honestly, but she knew Ty was at her back, ready to move them both to safety as soon as possible. She didn't have to be entirely quiet between the taunts and the property damage, so she focused on quick and safe until she was just a few feet away.

"Please let this work," she muttered mostly to herself as she pressed down the nozzle on the brand-new can. The smell of Aqua Net emerged, and she scooted ever closer, aiming upwards and flicking the lighter. Nothing. A shake, another flick, nothing. Mild panic. 'Shitshitshit-' A third flick, and a gout of flame hits Carnage roughly where his ass would be, Tandy pressing closer to concentrate the heat and flame along his body as much as possible.

Tyrone Johnson has posed:
Ty, like the good partner he was, was moving up along with Tandy, ready to whisk her away if Psycho McGoopFace made a threatening move towards her. He wanted to take point, to put himself between harm and Tandy, but resisted the urge. She had just as much a right to mix it up as he did, no matter how more well-suited he was to take the beatings than she was.
    Intangibility had its benefits.

Mary Jane Watson has posed:
What Miles says makes Carnage get enraged beyond the point of mere words. He goes to shriek, the symbiote going fully berserk. On one hand, that means that all of Carnage's attention is now on the Spiders rather than the civilians. On the other? Carnage is stronger than the spiders are. Carnage is faster than the Spiders are. Carnage can take far more damage than the Spiders can.
And they don't have the advantage of Spider-SEnse as those venom blasts seem to be on 'tickle' mode now as Carnage goe sto slash his scythes down through the middle of the bumper, slashing it in half as two more claws snap out to grip either end of it mid-leap, flinging it hard to the side to not interrupt his jump over as an arm goes to turn over into a massive spear, intent on trying to skewer Peter right through teh middle! Even as he shifts, seeming to grow a second head out of his body that twists to keep it's attnetion over on the leaping Miles, teeth buzzing like a chainsaw, tendrils snapping out like venus flytraps trying to latch onto Miles to crush him in their brutal jaws!

And Carnage goes to leap throught he flames, howling in anger as the symbiote's partial resistance to flames means that it's slowed, even while in agony but that takes the worst of the attempted strike out at the two Spiders!

Miles Morales has posed:
While Carnage might have a few advantages sure, he's still crazy. And sooner or later that usually comes back to bite the badguys in the back side.

Still, it would be nice if that fire had done a little more, if his bio-electric blasts were just a tab more effective. Still, you can't always get what you want.

So as Carnage gives that shriek of rage, Miles begins back-peddling away. Sometimes discretion is the better part of valor afterall. But Miles doesn't rely on speed and agility alone. Instead, even as he moves he begins fade away into the background as that camoflauge defense kicks in.

Peter Parker has posed:
Of course, knowing that he was going out symbiote hunting Pete has come at least a little prepared. It is one of the advantages when he knows that he is going up against one of his foes, instead of just running into random trouble. With a little time to prepare, the ESU student can put that big brain to work. Instead of relying just on amazing agility, superhuman strength, some nifty webbing and a snappy line of patter.

Sp when Carnage grows that second head -- eeewwwwww -- and lashes out with that goo-axe , cutting his bumper right in half, that doesn't particularly daunt Spidey. Instead he grabs the two halves of his improvised weapon and slaps a pair of little devices on each end. Then he slaps them together and a high-pitched electronic squeal echoes out across the street.

Not pleasant for anyone around. But a whole lot more unpleasant for a symbiote.

Under other circumstances, Spider-Man wouldn't want to take the risk. But he was at the UN, he saw what Cloak was able to do to some of those Hydra goons. So each time he strikes those two bumpers together, he drives Carnage back a little, waiting until he's just in the right position.

Then, slapping the sonic disruptors together one last time he flings a webline into the air with that customary *thwip*, leaps up and swings directly towards the mad symbiote, kicking him solidly in the chest and sending him sprawling towards that waiting darkness.

Tyrone Johnson has posed:
Ty was no fan of the sonic assault but he saw where Spider-Man was going with this. He rushed forward, hoping that his admittedly not-great speed would be enough to encompass the psycho killer before he could make a tag on one of the Spiders or, worse, Tandy. Or a civillian. As he rushed forward the Darkforce streamed behind him like boiling fog cloud streamers. Just a few seconds and he'd trample the killer.
And contact. Carnage disappeared into the Darkforce and Ty slammed the door closed before even someone with Carnage's reaction speed and agility could fling himself back out. "Whoa." Cloak said, straightening himself up. "Nice job, Dagger. With the torch." he said with a smile for his partner. "Wicked cool."

Mary Jane Watson has posed:
There's a CRUNCH as the charging, on fire Carnage is essentially flung over into the void that was the projected Darkforce Dimension that was Cloak's entire body. Where he would be staying for awhile and have to make home! At least until handed back over to the cops that he had gotten away from.

Even inside of Cloak Carnage would be screaming and struggling and thrashinga s Darkforce tendrils held him in. It was over..

Tyrone Johnson has posed:
Ty also looked at the collection of Spider-People, only one of which he was even vaguely familiar with. "Don't worry." he said, trying to sound tough and confident and mostly coming across as fairly terrified. "I'll let him chill out in the Dark for a while then drop him off ... shit, where should I drop him? Any thoughts?" he asked as a general question to the assembled Spider-People.

Peter Parker has posed:
Well. All's well that ends well.

Kinda.

By the sounds of it, Pete hasn't driven someone to their death. That's a plus. But it also sounds like Kassidy will be back. That's less good.

Still, for the moment things are taken care of. And hey, look at that, there's even some weekend left.

Flicking a salute towards Miles before dipping his head in Cloak and Dagger's direction, Spidey flings out another webline, ready to take to the rooftops before any athorities arrive and decide to blame him for the mess.

"I mean, it's up to you Swallower of Bad Guys," Pete offers up. "Me personally? I'd suggest the local SHIELD field office. They should have sonic disruptors and weapons to keep him neutrailized while they ship him back to the Raft or whatever other Super Max facility that's going to let him escape from next," he suggests, starting to leap into the air.

"Great job everyone. Yay team. We should definitely do lunch. Somewhere bright. Very bright."

Spidey doesn't fancy getting swallowed by the dark.

And with that, he begins to swing away. To work on his term paper or maybe check in with Harry and the gang. Work or play, that is the question.
