Profile
Kaine is the product of a cloning experiment conducted by the Jackal and Norman Osborn on the mutated DNA of Peter Parker. Unlike Ben Reilly, another clone of Peter Parker, he was never implanted with memories of a childhood. Unlike Peter, Kaine has opted for a more selfish and darker path as a gun for hire. Ultimately self-serving, his survival is his top priority including combating the cellular degeneration that scars his body.
Timeline
Timeline:
* 2019: Kaine is created as the first attempted cloning of Spiderman by Oscorp in partnership with the Jackal. Because of detected cellular degeneration, the experiment continues with the creation of Ben Reilly. Kaine is kept in containment for observation as a test subject.
While Ben Reilly is investigating Peter Parker as an alleged copy cat, Kaine is subjected to a variety of tests at the hands of the Jackal.
* 2020: Kaine escapes the Jackal's laboratory in Salt Lake City along with a copy of the cloning experiments documentation. Armed with the knowledge is a clone, he goes underground to establish a life for himself. He meets Louise Kennedy, a detective with SLPD. Kaine and Louise start a short but ultimately doomed love affair.
* 2021: Kaine makes a career out of being a mob hitman in Salt Lake. He justifies his actions by only accepting contracts on individuals he feels are morally irredeemable. One tragic night, he learns that Louise is working for one of his marks. Flying into a fit of uncontrolled rage, he kills Louise and brands her with the 'Mark of Kaine'.
* 2022: Kaine has come to New York City and Gotham in search of Spiderman and the Scarlet Spider in hopes of finding a method to fight his cellular degeneration. He continues to operate as a hitman.

Personality
Defiance:
Kaine has been defying his fate from his creation. He defied the Jackal who wishes to dispose of him as a failed experiment. He continues to defy his own cellular generation, taking whatever steps he can to assure his own survival. He defies the law, following his own personal code of honor.
Guilt:
Kaine started down a dark path the moment he burned his mark on the flesh of his former lover, Louise. His inability to restrain his anger and the horrible consequences of his action haunt him. He regrets the murder yet he views himself as damned from the start. He has been unable to channel this trauma constructively like Peter, but there may be a path of redemption for Kaine grounded in this past tragedy.
Resentment:
Kaine resents his creator, his creator's more successful experiment, and his progenitor. He resents the people who seem to have it 'easy'. He resonates significantly more with the 'have nots' then the 'haves' despite having his superhuman powers. Individuals who are able to tap into this resentment and underlying insecurity can be very effective at manipulating Kaine.

Advanced Spider-Sense:
Similar to Peter Parker, Kaine has an early warning system that allows him to sense potential threats within his immediate vicinity. However, this sense is both more advanced and less controlled then Peter's providing a limited degree of precognition. Unfortunately, these visions can manifest unwantedly during combat, distracting and impairing him.
Enhanced Speed:
Kaine can run up to 40 MPH along open ground or along side buildings.
Healing Factor:
Kaine is able to heal broken bones in a matter of hours and lacerations within a matter of minutes. He can quickly recover from disease and toxins.
Organic Webbing:
Thanks to the experiments performed by the Jackal, Kaine is capable of generating his own silk from glands within his forearms, limited only by his body's health and nutrition.
Superhuman Agility:
Kaine is capable of gymnastic feats that far exceed the abilities of the greatest athletes. He enters states of flow effortlessly allowing him to quick navigate complex landscapes.
Superhuman Reflexes:
Kaine can react with a speed faster then normal human maximums, giving him the ability to dodge high speed projectiles and swarms of enemies easily. Keyed to his spider-sense, he is a master of evasion.
Superhuman Stamina:
Kaine is capable of operating for hours at peak physical excursion. He is able to easily support his own weight and the weight of potential passengers without difficulty.
Superhuman Strength:
Kaine can lift and carry on average 15 tons. When enraged or facing more extreme circumstances, this can be pushed to the extremes of 40 tons though at the price of taxing his body.
Thermal Adhesion:
Kaine is able to stick to virtually any surface and crawl along it similar to Peter Parker. In addition, he is able to channel these adhesive forces through his fingertips and severely burn his adversaries by making skin-to-skin contact.
Skills
Intellect:
Kaine has an IQ 250 and is considered an exceptional genius. He has excellent recall and comprehension skills. He is a creative problem-solving.
Investigation:
After a couple of years as a hitman, Kaine has developed an aptitude for hunting down his marks. By studying forensic manuals and police tactics, he's developed a number practices and procedures for tracking people down.
Resources
Criminal Connections:
As an accomplished hitman, Kaine has contacts with a number of criminal organizations allowing him to find work and track down the source of rumors.
Former Contacts:
Being a former Hitman, Kaine does have -some- contacts. They're connected to some organizations and this gives some degree of reach. This network is nowhere near as vast as it was.
Weaknesses
Cellular Degeneration:
Kaine is an imperfect clone facing degeneration that is more aggressive then Ben Reilly's. While he has managed to devise a number of treatments and a costume that slows the degeneration, he is disfigured by blemishes on his skin which create a webbing like pattern. Additionally, he has aged more rapidly.
Hunted:
No one just -leaves- the mob. No one just leaves the underworld unscathed. Kaine has burned bridges. Sadly, those on the other side can have sniper rifles. There are grudges and maybe even a bounty on him. The mobs are going to be looking for a particular spider these days.
No Memories:
Unlike Ben Reilly, Kaine was not implanted with false memories of a childhood he never had. While given base set of skills by the Jackal to allow him to function, he has had to work from a blank slate with no support network in the form of friends or family.
Unstable:
Kaine is prone to mental instability when stressed. He is a complex amalgamation of rage toward the Jackal, resentment of Peter Parker and Ben Reilly, and the guilt of Louise's murder.
