John seems a vagabond. His appearance usually is a bit road worn and probably never grew out of being a street urchin. Even though he may seem worse for wear, something about him is just...intriguing.

Timeline

Timeline:
1988: Born the only survivor of childbirth. John's twin was stillborn, his mother died in childbirth.
1998: John lives with the blame his father puts on him for the death of his mother. After his father's imprisonment, John and his older sister live with their aunt and uncle.
1999: John learns he is from a long line of mages dubbed Laughing Magicians, ones who have the ability to bluff and trick the gods themselves, and harness Synchronicity. John was inspired and starts to learn magic. His first act of magic was locking away his innocence.
2005: John runs away from home, after cursing his father into becoming frail and withered.
2007: John gains a flat mate with Chas Chandler, who will go on to be John's most trusted friend.
2009: A young John becomes enamored with the Punk Rock scene, forms a band called Mucous Membrane.
2010: John banishes a demon and a girl to Hell, the trauma of which sends John into a stupor, and is admitted to Ravenscar asylum.
2013: John is freed from Ravenscar, and begins his meddling in the magical world, quickly gaining a reputation matching that of a Laughing Magician.
2019: John wins ownership of the House of Mystery from Doctor Occult and Father Time in a poker game. He continues to ride the synchronicity wave as it continues to lead him where he needs to be.

Personality

Cunning:
John Constantine is a bad boy. He doesn't play by normal rules, and when things tend to stand in his way, he uses his creativity and tongue to get out of it.

Roguish:
John is a rogue. Although this most often means he serves the forces of good, his methods are...dirty. He does not think much of fighting unfairly, and wouldn't think much of doing bad things to bad people.

Astral Projection:
John can separate his astral form from his corporeal form. Of course, without wards and seals, this leaves his physical body vulnerable to attack. But sometimes it is necessary to go into the astral plane. While in the astral plane, John cannot affect the physical plane in a physical way.

Demon Summoning:
John knows the methods of summoning and exorcising demons from the mortal plane. While some methods are catch-alls, other more specialized rituals are needed for greater demons.

Divination:
John can use various methods to peer into someone's future. Though most of these efforts go belly-up. The act of divination is not a science, but it can point in the right direction, or perhaps just fail spectacularly.

Energy Projection:
John can harness various forms of energy and direct them. Electricity, Fire, and solar all fall in this wheelhouse. While he doesn't harness enough power like someone such as Black Lightning would be able to, it does help in a pinch when you need to light a cigarette when your lighter is missing, or when you need to keep vampires at bay.

Illusion Casting:
John can cast an illusion to a person. This is normally used to make someone believe something, its roots are based in theatrics, and someone strong against telepathy would be able to shrug off his illusion, most normals wouldn't be able to shrug off the illusionary suggestion.

Invisibility:
John can render himself or objects invisible for varying times respectively. Humans take more focus than inanimate objects. The effect isn't used for long term use, the effect would wear off after three hours or so depending on the object.

Magic:
John is a highly skilled mage, having absorbed all the magic he could in Europe, he trained with Nick Necro as well. Through the study of many years, John has made himself one of the most powerful mages in the world. Though most would never know it from the look of him. Most magical users would know his name and his reputation for trouble.

Spirit Ward:
John is adept at crafting protection wards and seals, given the nature of his work, without them, he is merely a human. John's clothes and sometimes his cigarettes are warded to protect John. But there are always bigger fish, the same applies to his wards, they are powerful, but they are not infallible.

Synchronicity:
One of Constantine's powers, in fact his most powerful, is the Synchronicity Wave. It bends fate to make John appear exactly where he needs to be, when he needs to be, even when he does not realize.

The effect of riding the synchronicity wave can also manipulate odds in his favor, which allows a Laughing Magician to con and manipulate gods and demons.

Telekinesis:
John can summon objects from across the room to his hands. Calling this telekinesis is a misnomer, as John does not move them with his mind. It is a magical spell that brings the object to him. John would never call this Accio, because Harry Potter is for wankers.

Con Artist:
Gifted with a silver tongue, there is little Constantine can talk himself out of. Along with the Synchronicity Wave, Constantine usually doesn't need to use his magic.

Escapology:
Being a con-artist, Constantine has found himself at the end of handcuffs and bindings. When his plans do go afoul, he is able to work himself free from most confines.

Hard Knocks:
John has little formal education. What he knows comes from his life on the streets, and his expertise in the occult.

Multilingual:
Constantine knows a variety of languages, all of them dead languages used in magic. Other than English, he only knows enough French to ask where the loo is.

Occultism:
John is a master of the occult, the supernatural, and mysticism.

Singing:
Although they were not such a big hit, Constantine was in a pink band called Mucous Membrane.

Demon Blood:
Constantine's Blood has been tainted by demon blood by the demon Nergal. The effects of having demon blood inside him are passive, it allows him to cast magic without paying the 'price'. The tainted blood also renders him unpalatable to vampires.

Filthy Soul:
John has resisted Pandora's Box and being possessed by Deadman, merely because his soul is 'filthy' due to the amount of things he has done that are on the darker grey side of morals.

The House of Mystery:
The HoM is a magical residence that exists outside of space and time. It can make itself appear and move at its will. Oftentimes the House will point John in the direction he needs to go, and the house itself is a repository of magical artifacts, magical traps and winding corridors. The house has a mind of its own, and is loyal to its owner, whomever that may be.

Chain Smoker:
John smokes like a freight train. This has affected him by giving him cancer, and cannot overexert himself physically for long.

Damned:
Although a stalemate exists between the lords of Hell, John has technically sold his soul three times over.

Infamous:
In magical circles, John's name is said with caution and in hushed tones. His arrival usually precedes bad things happening, but of course, bad for one side is usually good for another.

Survivor's Guilt:
Banishing Astra to hell hit John hard, descending him into a stupor that he was checked into an asylum for years. The visions of his actions still haunt him, but it also drives him to do better.

Synchronicity:
The biggest weakness in his signature magic, Is that John's friends usually suffer tragic fates. You can not manipulate fate without ripples ringing out from your changes.
