Profile
Julie Power was born in Richmond, Virginia to Dr. James Power and Margaret Power. She was a founding member of the superhero team Power Pack. The second oldest of the four Power siblings, she was 13 years old when she was given her powers by Aelfyre Whitemane, a dying Kymellian noble. Going by the name 'Lightspeed', she went on many adventures with her siblings, before their identinties were made public during the alien attack on New York. Forced into retirement until the youngest is 18, Julie seems to be happy to lead a non-powered lifestyle.
Timeline
Timeline:
* 2002 - Julie is the second child born to Dr. James and Margaret Power.
* 2003 - Julie's brother, is born.
* 2004 - Julie's sister, is born.
* 2010 - The Power family moves from Richmond, Virginia to Munhiggin Island, Maine - so that Dr. Power could work on his latest invention, a matter/antimatter converter.
* 2012 - Dr. Power finishes his research on the converter and tests it. The information on this device is found out by a race of space aliens, the Kymellian. A Kymellian scientist recognizes the destructive power of this converter and sends a message to warn his High Council and seeking permission to interfere and prevent Earth from suffering a calamity similar to his own. This message intercepted by the Zn'rx Race, who subsquently kidnap Dr. and Mrs. Power to get the formula for the weapon. The Kymellian scientist, with his dying breath, tranferred his powers equally to each of the Power children, with Julie subsequently dubbed 'Lightspeed'. They rescue their parents. And decide to use their powers to help others.
* 2013 - 2018 - The Power Pack, some of Earth's youngest heroes, have a series of adventures. They miss out on the attack by Doomsday as it was a school holiday and the Power parents had taken their children out of town.
* 2018 - While protecting a group of mutants in the Subway tunnels of New York, Julie Power battles the supervillian known as Pestilence. During the battle, Julie uses the full extent of her powers, and accidentally kills the villain. Only a small group of the X-Men she was working with at the time know about it, but Julie feels extreme guilt and starts suffering from nightmares and flashbacks.
* 2018 New York attack by Loki - In a case of right place, right time, the Power family was visiting Coney Island at the time of the attack. Power Pack assists in defeating the armies in Brooklyn as the battle spills into the burroughs. Their identities become known by their parents, who go into hysterics at realizing that their children are super-heroes.
* 2019 - After months of talk and therapy, the Power children agree to disband Power Pack. Julie is the hubris of this as she wants to have a highschool life.
* 2020 - When her father accepts a job at Columbia University and moves the family to New York, Julie is more than pleased to enroll in the new Happy Harbor High School to have a second chance at being a 'normal' teenager.

Personality
Maternal:
Julie is a bit of a den mother when it comes to her younger siblings, and even though she has an older brother, Julie tends to be the designated babysitter and caretaker when the Power parents are out of the house. Though it's getting harder and harder to enforce that now that all the kids are teenagers, but Julie still makes sure that homework and chores are done.
Normal:
While Julie may have powers given to her by a dying alien, she wants to have a normal teenage life. She loves to shop, dance, club, hang out with her friends, and keep up with the latest fashions and trends. It's because of this that sometimes she'll ignore her powers for days on end, not wanting to use them. She wants to be Julie Power, not part of Power Pack or even 'Lightspeed'.
Reserved:
While not in her superhero persona, Julie is quite shy and reserved, a wallflower that tends to be slow to make friends or warm up to things. Part of it may be because of an overabundance of caution when it came to her adventures, but she's always been reluctant about taking first steps.
Voracious Reader:
Julie loves books, and is quite often seen reading. While most people have ereaders and computers to read off of, Julie enjoys the musty smell of an old book from toluene and hexanal. She likes to read stories of all types, by mysteries and romance top her list. She's a huge fan of Nancy Drew.
Character Sheet
Powers
Hard-Light Rainbow Trail:
Julie emits a distinct rainbow colored trail while flying. Sh's learned to manipulate this trail so that she could stand on it, use it to cushion the falls of others, and even as a hammock.
Hard-Light Shield:
A side-effect of the Rainbow Trail is that Julie can use it as a shield to deflect energy blasts. Lasers and other light emitting weapons cause her no damage, while bullet and solid projectiles can still affect her.
Healing:
Due to her integration with Kymellian DNA and powers, Julie can heal from wounds easily. She has to eat to power this ability, but as long as she's eating she can heal rapidly from her injuries.
Self-Propelled Flight:
Julie can fly at supersonic speeds while creating a stream of refracted light. Her top speed is around 800 miles per hour, or just over Mach 1.
Teleportation:
The second manifestation of Julie's Acceleration powers, which manifested after Julie had a strong desire to be in two places at once. This power allowed her to traverse great distances - generally her maximum range is New York to Los Angeles, seemingly without effort. She teleports in a flash of pink light. She has had to have visited a place before she can teleport to it.
Skills
Creative Writing:
Along with her love of reading, Julie loves to write. She's published a few stories, and keeps a blog about her adventures - her prior ones, and plans to write a book someday on being a teenaged hero someday.
Fashion Sense:
Julie has a keen fashion sense and is always on the leading edge of the latest thing. It's something she enjoys alot.
Hand To Hand:
Julie has basic hand to hand combat techniques. She can defend herself from a thug at a mall, but anyone with actual combat experiences is going to give her a hard time if she can't use her powers.
Resources
Costume:
Julie has a suit of unstable molecules made by the Smartship Friday. The costume is temperature resistant, has a built in communicator, and can mend rips and tears in itself easily and is easily able to change from a set of civilian clothes to her superhero costume quickly.
Smartship 'friday':
Along with the other Power children, Julie has constant contact with the Kymellian alien intelligence known as 'Friday'. Friday has a limited ability to change shape. Mostly this is done to provide for the needs and comfort of passengers. Thus Friday can transform from a single compartment ship into a multiple compartment ship as needed. Friday is also able to travel through different environments including underwater. Friday also contains a basic knowledge of most civilizations and planets and serves as an aide when needed. Friday can teleport Julie to itself and then back to Earth if needed.
Well Connected:
Lightspeed and the Power Pack are an established household name in New Yorks hero community and are easily recognized. While it blows any chance for a mask, it also means she both recognizes a lot of the established heroes by name or even has some phone numbers that could lead to backup.
Weaknesses
Power Family:
Despite the fact that her siblings are powered, her parents are not. If any threats are made to her family, she will usually be the first one to come running.
Ptsd:
Julie was the only member of the Power Pack to outright kill a supervillain. And it has affected her poorly. She has nightmares about losing control of her powers and hurting others. She doesn't talk about it much, but it comes out in some of her writing prompts.
Public Identity:
The world found out that the Power Pack were mere children during the attack on New York, and it caused an outrage that a mere child was in the fight. They only wanted to help, but now that the world knows who they are, for ill or good, they can no longer hide with masks.
Underconfident:
Julie is not a very confident young woman. She's unsure of herself, her sexuality, and her powers. She's always going second-guess herself on the things that she does - and she doesn't think she makes a very good hero, either. She is actually quite jealous of Alex's natural heroism, Jack's ingenuity and precociousness and Katie's undeniable charisma.
