The Guardians of the Galaxy are a ragtag group of misfits, outlaws, and heroes who banded together in a chaotic twist of fate to save the universe. Despite their differences, they’ve become a formidable team, known for their unorthodox methods, quick wit, and knack for pulling off the impossible. They operate on the fringes of galactic society, taking on dangerous missions for profit, justice, or survival—often all three.

 +
==== Formation ====
 +
The Guardians were formed in 2020 when five unlikely individuals found themselves imprisoned together in the Kyln, an interstellar prison. Peter Quill, also known as Star-Lord, had just stolen a mysterious artifact called the Orb, which contained the immensely powerful Power Stone. Pursuing him were Gamora, a deadly assassin and adopted daughter of Thanos; Rocket, a genetically modified raccoon and skilled bounty hunter; and Groot, a sentient tree-like being with a heart as big as his vocabulary is small. Completing the initial group was Drax the Destroyer, a vengeance-driven warrior seeking justice for his slain family.
 +

 +
Initially united by their shared need to escape the Kyln, the group’s uneasy alliance turned into camaraderie as they worked together to stop Ronan the Accuser, a Kree warlord threatening the galaxy with the Power Stone. Against all odds, the Guardians defeated Ronan, saved the planet Xandar, and earned a reputation as heroes.
