Date of Scene: 07 November 2023
Location: Kansas
Synopsis: The Young Avengers thought they were coming out to observe a new group - instead, they end up rescuing hostages!
Cast of Characters: Mark Grayson, James Barnes, Bunny Macleod, Emiko Queen, Andi Benton, Molly Hayes, Cindy Moon, Kate Bishop

Mark Grayson has posed:
When the call came out from Kansas City, it was a strange thing. There had been a pattern of attacks on the outskirts of town, always on the outskirts, never in the city itself. And the attack seems to happen around the same time each other. A local group, Mechanized Force, had been keeping the attacks at bay. Usually, there are five of them, but only two were available tonight.

They're easily spottable in their bright mecha like armors, each the size of a three-story building. Knowledgable people would be able to pick out bits of various techs in the robot like mechas, as they are assembling in position.

"Remember!" a voice calls out to the two mecha pilots. "We will have the Avengers watching us tonight! This is our chance to get noticed nationally and get a big boost to our research funding and superhero patrols!"

A young woman's voice announces, "Mechanized Pink here, I understand Doctor Primrose, I'll make sure that they see all they need to see to give us as much as they want!"

"Mechanized Red here," says a young male voice. "If it's like every other month, this is going to be a walk in the park." he says overconfidently, a smug sound to his voice.

As the pair are talking, there's an alert, "I have a reading on displacement particles!" the voice recognized as 'Doctor Primrose' says in an almost cheerful voice. And at the base of Mechanized Force, she rubs her hands together eagerly.

James Barnes has posed:
There's no chance that Bucky actually volunteered for this mission. No chance in hell. And his grumbling expression as he waits for a load of teenagers-slash-young adults to pile onto the Quinjet he's piloting is a shade darker than even his normal grimace. But he bites his tongue and says nothing about it, only spins around in the helm's chair to give a brief sitrep and then make sure everybody's strapped in.

The flight is made in silence, at least from the front of the plane. It's almost as if he's ignoring the Young Avengers crew and whatever chatter they get up to in the meantime. But eventually they do make it to Kansas City, and Bucky finds a (mostly) unoccupied parking lot to touch down in. Immediately once done, the Quinjet engines still spinning down, he's stalking towards the back of the plane to hit the release on the cargo hatch.

"I'm going to assume you're all capable of taking care of yourselves," he says in as supportive a voice as he can muster... which is about as flat as their surroundings, currently. "You need help, you have comms. Communicate." He shrugs into the last of his tac gear, zips up the jacket, and as soon as he's off the Quinjet he's got his hands on his hips as he peers up at the giant mechas that stand out amongst the scenery.

It's giving old man staring at the kids on his lawn. But all he says (or mutters, really) is "Bigger than I was expecting," and then he's off.

    To who knows where.

Bunny Macleod has posed:
Bunny Macleod AKA PRISMA of the YOUNG AVENGERS was happy to do a sit-in of another team. She's in her 'work clothes', which consists of a dark pink uniform with matching skates and helmet, with a high Mandarin-style collar, with re-enforced forearms, elbows, knees and shins. Along with a sash around her middle with a badge with a fancy looking P on it. You'd have to talk to her tailor.

Of course she spent most of the time on the flight over chattering excitedly about this and that regardless of who was listening, the blonde Young Avenger with the fading pink dye in her hair applying her helmet (with the motif with the Avengers A and a pair of butterfly wing decals on it), and she hits the ground in her skates as she pauses and looks up to the very large mechs.

"... oooooh. That... that is pretty cool." she admits, lowering her goggless as she skates a bit back and to the side.

"Soooo we're just gonna sit back and watch and you're already running away from us okay cool, comms open, we can do this. Should be fun." Bunny hops on her skates a little bit as she puffs out her cheeks in nervousness.

Emiko Queen has posed:
How considerate of the monsters to attack at the same time each month. It made arranging for being on the site at the appropriate time a lot easier than it usually was. Hopfully the local heroes won't be too put off by expecting Avengers and getting just one, plus an entourage of the Young variety.

"You would almost think he doesn't want to be here," Red Arrow murmurs as she stalks off the Quinjet after taking one last look over her gear, watching in whatever direction their chaperone took off. Then turning her attention to the two looming armored forms waiting for them. Eyes them up and down. "So at what point does it stop being an armor and start being a mecha?" she asks no on in particular as she readjusts her hood after lowering her gaze again. It's mostly an idle passing thought, she's already onto more serious matters, looking over the thankfully scant environment around them. "Do we have any idea what manner of monster this is dealing with?"

She's not the aggressively social one, someone else can deal directly with their 'tour guides'.

Andi Benton has posed:
Mania spent most of the trip keeping to herself, though occasionally speaking when spoken to. She studied up on what she could in order to have some idea of what they might be dealing with, but there are still a lot of blanks. Even if she isn't talking much outwardly, there are some internal conversations going on.

<Mania> What is Kansas City known for, Andi?
<Andi> Well, there's bar-be-que, fountains, a baseball team that usually sucks, jazz music, having another Kansas City in Kansas that nobody but them cares about...
<Mania> What about chocolate?
<Andi> I'm sure we can get some before we leave. I doubt it's any different.
<Mania> They should have chocolate fountains.

"Mmm, chocolate fountains," Mania mumbles in a probable moment of distraction.

Whatever the case, once they've arrived and they begin to depart, she casts a glance over a shoulder toward Bucky and waves with a claw-tipped hand. "Thanks for the ride, gramps. Try not to get too drunk while we're saving the day from whatever it is that needs to be beat down." With that, the figure in the black suit, costume, or whatever it actually is, leaves with the others to get a look at the mechs. "Huh," is the eloquent reaction given to them.

Molly Hayes has posed:
Molly Hayes hasn't been around for a bit, having taken some time to hike the Appalachian trail and generally do runaway stuff for a while, lowercase r, not hanging out with the team, just bumming around and wandering as she pleases. Being young and mighty can make you a little reckless, even in Molly's relatively innocent way.

She's pretty stoked about riding on the jet and going on a proper team mission, adding her own chatter to the mix and happy to offer a cheerful encouragement to anybody who's feeling nervous.

"I can totally take care of myslef, Mister Soldier, sir!" she yells back at Bucky. She doesn't have a costume, at present, although she's thinking about it. For now, she's wearing overalls with a bright yellow t-shirt, hair shoved up under a duckbill duck hat and a very determined expression.

"Wait, there's chocolate?"

Cindy Moon has posed:
Unlike a certain grumpy Gus, Silk absolutely volunteered for this mission. A chance to fly in a Quinjet and get out of New York? Sign her up!! And chatter? Well, she is a Spider, after all. It is almost a given spider power. With great power comes a great deal of talking. That's how it goes, right? Regardless, there is certainly a great deal of communication going on.

There is a little disappointment when the Quinjet lands and Silk steps out...into Kansas. "Oh. Not very exciting, huh." She pirouettes, taking a good look around and nothing seems to be too eyecatching. That is...until she catches the armored suits.

"Oh...now that is cool. Granted, not as cool as piloting a giant megazord, but pretty cool. Hey, did I ever tell you all of the time I helped pilot an intradimensional giant mech against a huge monster in a massive battle? It was pretty awesome."

A pause..."Oh, yeah. It was last Thursday."

Mark Grayson has posed:
As the Young Avengers deploy, there is an opening of what looks like a large portal. Stepping through it is a hulking beast. The same size as the two mecha suits, it appears to be a large hulking red humanoid. It has only one cyclopean eye, and it's massive torso is bare. His forearms are covered in black material, with the fists in armored gauntlets. His bottom half is covered in black pants with metal over his feet like his fists as shoes.

https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/comic-invincible/images/0/03/Giant.jpeg/revision/latest?cb=20211025054341

"Mecha Red here! It's attacking!" And the red mecha starts to move on the large creature.

"I see him!" Mecha Pink calls out, "We'll take him down for sure this time!"

The Giant notices the two robots pushing towards him. "Oooh, toys!" he calls out, almost gleeful, at least until Mecha Red punches him. "Hey!" he roars, "That hurt!" And he gives the mecha a mighty shove!

---

On the ground, behind the two mech suits, Bucky can find that both suits are tethered with large cabling wires. The cabling disappears a short distance away into what is listed as a large culvert listed as 'Sewer' and 'No Trespassing, High Voltage Danger'!

He can make out a light, some two hundred yards away.

James Barnes has posed:
The appearance of the giant monster comes as no surprise to Bucky, who doesn't so much as slow his roll as it portals in. He's still walking at a decently fast clip, not quite jogging but nearly there. Apparently he's scouting out the area, which may have originally been to find a good place to perch--

--After all, that rifle on his back looks like it has some serious firepower--

--but then he catches sight of the culvert, the cabling descending down into it, and the mysterious light beyond.

Well, conventional firearms probably aren't going to be super useful against a giant, and he did say he was going to trust the Young Avengers to take care of themselves, so he reports a quick "<<Investigating a suspicious tunnel. If I lose communication heading underground, don't send anyone after me,>>" and then, pistol pulled from a holster at his hip, he heads into the culvert.

If he's aware of anyone following him, he gives no outward signs. Yet.

Bunny Macleod has posed:
<'Oooh Toys'?> Bunny asks, her eyebrows going up as she skates to catch up with Bucky. She knows she's not really equipped for giant monsters as she skates up behind the responsible adult on the trip. She looks up at the giant monsters, and then back to Bucky, and then up to the monsters again and draws her batons.

"I think I'm going to let the Literal Super Strength girls handle that one -- how'd you get the short straw on a girls' fieldtrip out to Kansas... er... sir?" she asks, and then blinks at the tunnel.

"... think the power cords are going to lead us to like, Evangelion level weirdness?" she asks. Obviously, the pink-clad mutant isn't going to send anyone after Bucky. SHe's just going to go herself.

Emiko Queen has posed:
Finding a perch and hoping she could manage to do something with explosive tipped arrows or somesuch similar was probably Emiko's original intent as well.

But then Bucky comms that he found something else of interest. An investigation is more up her speed, we'll let the mechas and the girls with super strength or alien bodysuits deal with the big monsters. It doesn't take her long to hone in on where Bucky went, and Bunny followed, and...

While not immeadiately obvious she did the same, the red-hooded vigilante catchs up to Bunny without much issue. "There seems to be more going on here than just the monster attacks. We can't let ol' metalarm have all the fun now can we."

Andi Benton has posed:
"Did he really say not to follow him if we lose communication?" Mania asks over the audio link, tone of voice bordering on incredulous.

<Mania> What /is/ that, Andi?
<Andi> Hell if I know, but it's big and tall.

This may make it tougher for someone with limited size and strength to deal with if the ones in the mech suits can't handle it, but she thwips her way over toward one of them, seeking to land at one of their shoulders. "Hey! What is that thing weak to? How can we help?"

Molly Hayes has posed:
Molly Hayes grins, "Strong girl? That's me! Heck, it was number four on my Codename list, but I think there probably already was one sometime back in olden days and I don't wanna steal the legacy of some sad old forgotten Boomer hero, that would be raelly gross of me, so I didn't use it, but Strong Girl does have a really nice feel to it and then you would pair with Power Girl and I always wanted to be Power Girl's sidekick, that was like my main goal for a..."

"Oh, hey, giant. Cool."

The tiny girl is looking up, up, and up at the giant, "I really should have brought my jet pack," she pouts. "Oh, well. Sometimes you gotta kick 'em in the shins," she says, leaping forward with a Hulk-type jump in an attempt to do just that: kick the giant right in the shin.

Cindy Moon has posed:
Oh, look. Really big monster. And two mechs to fight it. And little Cindy Moon, on the ground looking *up* at it.

Well, can't just stand around and do nothing. Time to leap into action.

Whichever mech that her symbiotic teammate didn't swing to is the target of choice for Silk. A couple silken strands later and Silk is perched on the other mech's shoulder. "So, like, what is with this guy, anyways? Cyclops but robo-hands? Can't just stick with a theme? Whatever this thing is, it's trying too hard." Yup, spider-quips. Comes with the powers.

But...with it being a cyclops and all, it means there is that one real big target, just begging for a big wad of webbing to cover. "Going for the eye..."

Did Silk need to announce her target? Probably not. But, the team should be glad she didn't shout out an over-the-top attack name. It would go with the whole anime feel right now. Instead, both hands extend out as webbing flings from her fingertips, forming an nice big extra-sticky blob, primed and ready to fly into the eye like a big pizza pie.

Mark Grayson has posed:
As Bucky, Bunny and Emiko (in her own way) head down the tunnel - it is not guarded. The tunnel is new construction, hidden beneath the older streets of the old suburban area that the battle is taking place in. The light is a stark contrast to the darken streets and abandoned storefronts that speak to an area that has been in decline for years.

But the pictures from the battles showing a mecha among the houses and stores looked mighty impressive as propoganda.

When they reach the end of the tunnel, it opens into what looks like was once a factory of sometype - that is now active again. Three large mecha suits, these of Blue, Black and Yellow are in large sets of scaffolding, under various states of repair. There are less than a dozen people here - most of them working on repairs, or monitoring stations.

In the middle of the complex, an older woman stands in the middle of a platform, monitors showing various angles form the battle. "Have the children deployed yet?" she asks.

"They're working on it!" A worker calls out.

"Excellent," she says, "They'll make great witnesses to the Avengers!"

And down below her, encased inside a large bubble like forcefield enclosure, a single person floats in the ether - a massive electrical field surrounding her. All the cables from the mecha -- lead directly to her.

Mark Grayson has posed:
Outside!

While Giant is facing off with the two mecha, suddenly here comes Molly! She powers into his knee and releases a kick. "HEY! HEY! THAT HURT!" he yells, stumbling backwards a few steps, his hands going to cover his shin with a gasp as he swings around, trying to backhand Molly into a nearby building. "Nnnhgh! I want to be President of the United States!" he cries out. "And I will be!"

The webbing flies up into his eye and he reaches up to grab at it. "Not fair! Cheating!" he cries out in protest.

His foot lashes out, kicking into the ground and sending up a wave of dirt and debris flying off into Cindy's direction.

Inside Mecha Red, his pilot growls. "They're gonna steal our glory." he radios Mecha Pink.

Mecha Pink frowns a little, "Then lets get in there and knock him down before they can spoil it for us?" she radios back as she starts to rumble forward, turning on her exterior speakers. "We can handle this, you don't have to be like in the way!"

Mecha Red responds to Mania, "We can handle it! Just sit back and enjoy the show!" He offers, practically blowing off the young symbiote.

James Barnes has posed:
"I didn't go to the meeting."

Bucky doesn't look back when he says this, so Bunny will just have to use context clues to figure out that he's replying to her. And boy are those context clues slim pickings right now. He really just doesn't emote at all.

However he does make a noise at being called metalarm. Was it... a snort? Did he laugh? There's no way. Right?

Either way, they're descending down into the depths, and what they find immediately sets off alarm bells for Bucky. He holds out his aforementioned metal arm to signal both Bunny and Emiko to come to a stop before they exit out of the tunnel into the old factory floor.

Still hidden in the shadows, Bucky half-turns to look back at the two Young Avengers who tailed him. "Stay put," he says, quietly. "But be ready to jump in if I give the signal."

What's the signal? Well, Bucky doesn't specify before he steps out from the tunnel, pistol held at his side, pointed -- for now -- down at the ground. He doesn't say anything, rather just waits to be noticed. Which just gives him a longer time to look around suspiciously.

Bunny Macleod has posed:
"Oh good, so we're standard operating procedure -- no one knows what's going on." Bunny remarks with a note of wry humor in her voice. Young as she is, she knows the score. Generally she's on the losing side.

    Builds character.

<Standing by.> she whispers into the com, and she crouches down low, looking over the colorful mecha, the controls, and all the wiring leading to the lady in the bubble.

"How much would you wager that she's the professional sounding one on the comms?" she asks to Red Arrow, her lips pursing a moment.

Emiko Queen has posed:
The passage is newer than the surrounding decayed urban sprawl. That immeadiately sets off a few red flags to her situational awareness, and the warding to stay back is appreciated even though she had already slowed down to a cautious pace. She has little issue with letting the elder Avenger go first. There is no vocal reply, just a curt nod to Bucky.

Then she slinks to one side of the opening from the tunnel into the factory, hunkering down there to stay out of sight. She was already running in assassin mode now. If the actual assassin part is to be needed is to be seen. But the stealthy part was definitely in play as the two girls take up overwatch positions at the entry.

"Probably," she answers in a voice so low even the nearby Bunny might have a hard time hearing it, "Not quite supervillain, but it's definitely got that sort of secret lair ambience to it..."

Andi Benton has posed:
Mania's head tilts at the rebuff from whoever's piloting Mecha Red, her eyes going from enlarging to narrowing, just white slits. "Oh, so you're worried about being shown up? Fine. Show us what you got."

She flips away from the would-be hero in the robot, sending a line of webbing that arcs out toward a nearby building, drawing herself up to crouch and watch from there. "Stuck-up kid," she mutters to herself, for that's what he sounded like to her. She didn't even go to the length Silk did by leading with any sort of attack yet.

<Mania> Shouldn't we be helping, Andi?
<Andi> He's so sure he's got it taken care of, so let's see. Meanwhile, let's see if there are any weaknesses since he wouldn't tell us anything.

Molly Hayes has posed:
Molly's kick aimed a little higher than intended, which isn't surprising - she's yet to get within sixty yards of where she's aimed, but mostly she's jumped at big targets so it's usually worked out fine. She did once overshoot and land in a Joe's Crab Shack near Indianapolis. She had to wash dishes for a month to pay that off!

She's about to make a pithy comment about size not mattering or some such when a big giant hand wallops her little bitty self and sends her flying into the side of a nearby building. She even makes a little silhouette in the bricks, Looney Tunes style. Which makes quite the picture when she sticks her head out of it, her duck hat covered in rubble. "He really do be big though." she says, coughing for a second as she shakes off the dust. Into her comm, she says, "I didn't hear anybody call dibs. I came her to whup some giant butt!"

Cindy Moon has posed:
Well...that's rude.

Not necessarily the dirt being kicked in Silk's face...though that is rude as well. It does blind her, but only momentarily while her Silk-Sense allows her to avoid the big rocks. The ones that would hurt if they actually hit. It is a perfectly fluid display of agility...if it was actually visible through the dust cloud. As such, when the dust literally settles, Silk is still standing, none the worse for wear.

"Missed me!"

But, really, what is rude is the whole 'stand back and watch us work' comment. And, honestly, it is enough for Cindy to actually contemplate a not-so-pleasant retort back. But hey, she is an adult! (barely) She doesn't need to resort to pithy remarks. At least, not yet.

Instead, she swings over towards Molly to check on her. At the very least dust off the duck hat. "You alright?" No waiting for a response. "Don't think we came here to kick giant tush, but I am with you. It's there...it needs to be kicked. But, let's see what the Pink and Red Rangers are going to do first. We can save their butts in a little bit."

Kate Bishop has posed:
Kate is late, or maybe on time, hard to say. She was very aware of the mission and parameters. Also aware that Bucky lost the not-it-game at Avengers HQ as well. Still she is here now. She will explain if confronted (maybe) about what led her to missing the Quinjet. Honestly she will probably say she was trying to not micromanage the team cause it is all about not doing that vibe wise. This may be a lie and she actually had a midterm.

Still she is here and that is what is important. Right.

She adjusts her gear as she steps away from the very colorful Rabbit Hole she just stepped through, leaning on one of her teammates to get her to the site quickly. She is not disorientated from the mode of transit like many are, old hatter hat as it were.

As she walks over to the Quinjet tapping her comms, hoping the team put them on. ~Dang those are big Robots. So hows the mission going everyone. Eyes on the objectives yet?~

Mark Grayson has posed:
As Mania settles back just to watch, Molly goes flying through the air and lands in the rubble. Giant yells. "You're cheating! You told me if I beat them both I could be President!" he declares loudly. And with that, he slugs Mecha Pink. Hard.

As she stumbles backwards, he pounds his hands against his chest, "I'm tired of this game! I want a new one!" With Mecha Pink's arm sparking from where she took the punch, the pilot snarls. "You little brat!" And she rushes in, slamming into the Giant.

And as Mecha Red joins in, they are starting to lay heavy hits on the Giant. Hard punches and kicks are thrown.

And he can be heard yelling. "Stop! Okay! I give!" Giant is being pummeled, and he's trying to give up.

But Mecha Red and Pink aren't stopping. Which is exactly when Kate decided to arrive as Giant stumbles backwards, but both of the mecha are trying to close the distance on him. "Time out!" he yells in vain.

Mark Grayson has posed:
As Bucky makes his appearance, there's surprise from one of the workers. "Hey! This is a restricted area!" he calls out, frowning. "How'd you end up down here?!" Well, at least there's no need to pull the alarm?

Doctor Primrose turns her attention from the monitors to the commotion and she smiles, tapping a finger against her lips. "Do you like my setup here? It keeps Kansas City quite safe, I promise. If we can turn back a monster every month, why would anyone else care to attack?"

"Would you like some coffee? You can sit back and enjoy the show. My little light brite here..." he gestures to the girl in the bubble. "She can easily handle the power needed to put on our little play every month, so it's optimal and genius!"

"Now, I'm assuming you did not come alone..." And as she says that, a couple of the workers are switching, looking to draw weapons and approaching the opening that James come out of. "Come on out!" Primrose calls, "Noone needs to be harmed tonight."

James Barnes has posed:
When he's questioned as to how he got down here, Bucky pointedly pivots towards the tunnel he just emerged from, and then turns back, expression flat. "I walked," he says.

Doctor Primose doesn't get a verbal response from him, but he does begin to move again, making an obvious play to step closer to the girl in the bubble when the doctor gestures towards her.

Though his head does lift up a tick at the mention of her 'little play'. He narrows his eyes as he tries to get a closer look at the figure in the electrical field. Right now, his chiefest concern is her being held against her will.

That, and the two girls still hiding in the tunnels. But he just glances back over his shoulder when some of the workers start to advance on their position. Nothing he can do about it but hope they can handle themselves.

"You wanted the Avengers' attention. Now you have it. Unfortunately for you they sent me, so I'd prefer if we just cut through the bullshit and got to what you were looking to get out of this rather than continue to waste my time."

Bunny Macleod has posed:
"A play?" Bunny questions, her eyes going wide. She purses her lips, and she takes to her comms <<Hey Team Girlpower -- try to tie things up with as little collateral damage as possible. I think someone's trying to smoke-and-mirrors us!>> the Rollerskater states, and as the two make their way to her and Red Arrow's position, she takes a little step back.

"Do you think you have something in your quiver of tricks to stop their forward advance and give us an opening?" she asks, turning to Emiko. "I've got a terrible idea... ever play Monkey Bowling?"

Emiko Queen has posed:
Emiko Queen frowns a bit, both at the men starting to approach towards them, and the general situation. To someone that knows a lot about deception and misdirection, a lot of this stinks. "They act more like this is a show than being heroic..." she utters softly in response to Bunny. Then tilts her head a moment. It takes her a moment to think about that phrase and Bunny's abilities, but when she puts it together she smirks a bit. Reachs back to her quiver. "I have just the absurd thing to get their attention." Bunny might even get a glimps of what arrow it is Emiko pulls out and draws back in her bow....

The only thing the guards is going to see is a large Boxing Glove abruptly flying at his face!
It's an Arrow tradition!.. Even if Emiko thinks it's rediculous. But this is one of those times when being absurd is exactly the distraction she wants, standing in the tunnel apeture where she fired from.

"Huh. Green Arrow is right. Sometimes you do want to just punch someone from several meters away."

Andi Benton has posed:
Mania begins to prowl along her spot on the roof, eyes narrowing again as Molly gets swatted away then aided. Seems no worse for wear. When should they jump in further? Something about this feels off. Then, something over the comms.

<Mania> Andi, what is the meaning of smoke and mirrors?
<Andi> It means things aren't what they seem, like someone's trying to fool you and make you think what you're seeing is different from what it really is.
<Mania> You mean like when politicians say anything?
<Andi> ........yeah, something like that.

The eyes reveal amusement, if only for a moment, because now Mania's swinging back into action to return to Mecha Red, landing where she'd been before and rapping against the thing's head with a fist. "Okay, how about you tell us what's really going on here before we get the answers our way?"

Cindy Moon has posed:
The comms are heard. Smoke and mirrors? Oh...it definitely seems like that. The message does cause Silk to take a moment to just...feel. And, even if it was not for the fact that it is two on one...that the mechs are actually overwhelming the giant and that the giant is actively trying to give up...Silk's innate sense is telling her that the giant is posing no threat.

"Hey!! Tweedle Dumb and Tweedle Dumber! Lay off the cyclops! He said he gives up!" Oh, if there is one thing that Cindy does not like...it's a bully. And there are two of them here. <<Pink and Red are hammering on this giant after he gave up. They better call off the brute squad before I get angry.>>

Well...Silk might be a little angry now. Not quite angry enough to try to take on two mechs at once...but one at a time? Sure. And it's Pink that earns Silk's ire. "Let's play Empire. Pink's the AT-AT and I am the snow speeder."

Kate Bishop has posed:
Kate puffs her cheeks out as she observes the battle from her perch on top of the Quinjet now. She listens to Bunny's comm response.

"Well this is going about how I thought it would." she says to herself.

Eyes narrowed she selects one arrow from her quiver and fires a graceful arcing shot from her vantage and some distance. Which genuinely doesn't likely do much to prevent it from sliding right into a gap in Pink's damaged arm and exploding there.

<<Good idea Mania and Silk. Lets keep making sure we will be having a time out now please like the poor thing requested... at least until we figure out what sort of bullshit is going on here>> a pause <<Go ham but don't hurt the pilots... everyone involved seems like they are twelve...>>

Mark Grayson has posed:
"Oh, that's easy. As you can see, my experiment is a success. So I want to expand. And in order to expand..." Primrose taps her pen against her hip, click click. "...well, you know how it is. Equity. Liquid assets. Cold hard cash. We've been out here working on the leavings of those in the tri-city area. It's time for the Avengers to recognize that there are other places than New York, Metropolis, and Gotham."

And with Bunny and Emiko taking position, the workers turned guards shine the beam of a flashlight down the tunnel. "There's two of them down here!" one calls up to Primrose. She frowns and looks down at Bucky. "You couldn't leave well enough alone." she frowns, another click of her pen before it extends into a long blade.

And that's when suddenly, guard one gets a boxing arrow directly to his face! It rocks his head back and he stumbles a few feet backwards before falling over!

Guard two, instead of just standing there waiting to get arrowed, takes cover and lowering his rifle, starts to fire down the tunnel towards the two Young Avengers!

----

Outside!

As Bunny sends out the warning, suddenly Mania is on Mecha Red's head and rapping it with a fist. "We're winning!" he says and attempts to grab the symbiote and crush her in his mechanical grip. "Couldn't even send the hot spider chick out." he grouses, "Ended up with the goth freak instead."

Cindy's rush in on Mecha Pink has her going, "Rude!" She attempts to sidestep out of Silk's webbing, but she is much slower and not as quick on the movement as Cindy tangling up the mech's legs!

As Kate's arrow flies, it slips right into the gap and explodes - the arm is dislodged and falls to the ground with a loud thud, just as Molly comes charging in and slams into Pink's legs, causing it to stumble, further tangling up in Silk's webbing and it falls down onto it's face with a loud /crash/.

James Barnes has posed:
Bucky does not look swayed by Doctor Primrose's argument. He's listening, because it's never smart to ignore a threat in the room even if they're currently busy pontificating about their villain plan, but what he's really focused on is scoping out the room for potential weapons and exits.

The number of potential hostiles has already, of course, been noted. But he has two aces up his sleeve that reveal themselves with a boxing glove arrow right to a guard's face.

And now the Doctor has a sword. Pen. Sword-pen. That's a new one for Bucky, admittedly, and he's seen his fair share of strange weaponry. Either way, though, he's well-adept at close quarters combat, so the pistol is swapped out for a knife in one smooth motion as he steps in towards Doctor Primrose and strikes at her once first with the knife to try and knock the sword out of her hand, then he's buffeting his way into her personal space in an attempt to slam a knee into her stomach and down her as quickly as possible. No frills, just cold efficiency.

Bunny Macleod has posed:
The Pen is Mightier than the Sword, so is a sword pen the weird pen-pineapple-apple-pen... nevermind. Too confusing.

The bullets do not strike. They hit and rebound off a gasoline puddle shield... which slowly.... begins... rolling... and.. picks up .. speed as Bunny pops out, skating on the inside of a perfectly spherical rainbow-colored bubble as she gives a whoop of joy, coming down and crashing down, knocking some items over -- like the guy who is shooting at them, and she begins to wreck havoc like a pinball from Hell!

"DING DING DING DING DING DING DING -- TILT!" the pink-clad girl calls out, a great distraction as distractions go.

Emiko Queen has posed:
Emiko Queen is going to get so much grief from her brother for using the infamous Boxing Glove Arrow after how much she picks on him for coming up with it, but it'll be worth it.

Now is not the time to be concerned about such things. Not when they've somewhat by accident uncovered some sort of hero impressing conspiracy. She's already on the move, even as Bunny is doing her pinball impression to intercept the gunman. While Emiko makes a break for the one she whalloped with the boxing glove. She intent on intercepting him before he can get back into the action, probably to his surprise when he has a small but surprisingly strong heroine leaping in to grapple and keep him down on the ground.

Because another arrow would be expected, and she's mixing it up to keep him from getting a mental footing back as well as the physical ones she's aiming to knock him right back off of.

Andi Benton has posed:
Mania proves to be much harder to get hold of than Mecha Red is expecting. "We didn't say you could touch us, and you sound way too young for us anyway. We asked you once. Now we're telling you. Stop, before we stop you."

To emphasize the point, as Red is still trying to batter the giant, one of Mania's hands reshapes into a sharp-looking battle axe, which is waved in front of Red's 'face.' "We can open you up and see what you look like. When someone says they give up, you stop hitting them."

If whoever's piloting the thing /doesn't/ stop? She goes for the cables that connect to the thing. They must be there for a reason.

Cindy Moon has posed:
Pink topples to the ground...and Silk may be just a little bit happy about that. Even going so far as to high-fiving the petite powerhouse of Molly. And Kate, coming in with the arm detachment! That was fantastic! It just might be adding to the whole excitement factor for Cindy.

Yet, she isn't running off to beat the snot out of a downed adversary. Silk does land herself in front of the downed mech's field of vision, so that the pilot within gets a clear view...and audio...of Cindy. "Stay down, Gulliver. We really don't want us coming in there after you, now, do we?"

Then, a turn towards the other mech. The comms come to life. <<Need any help with Big Red? If we need to, we can try to short out its circuits with a little conductive webbing and Pink's sparking arm-hole here. Not sure if it will work, but hey, could be fun.>> Because it would be.

Kate Bishop has posed:
    It would be fun.

Kate though is sliding off the quinjet and hopping back to solid earth to jog towards the fight now. Leaving only minimal bootprints on the jet in the process. Not zero scuffs though.

She isn't quite so trusting, and maybe a smidge worried that Mania will actually carve the kid out of there like a can of catfood or something. So she dips into that special quiver and pops off another shot at Big Red, that winds and fates and advanced engineering willing, will explode under the feet of the big red mecha. Oil slick arrow. Which isn't as bad as a boxing arrow, but it is definitely gimicky too.

<<Make sure they stay down.>> then she yells towards the Giant "Time out good. No fighting while we talk Games!"

Mark Grayson has posed:
This will probably be one of the quickest fights in the history of all fights. Bucky, trained for years and years, versus Primrose, who thinks that a pen sword is cool. She tries to come in for an overhead strike, Bucky strikes her in the face, breaking her nose.

She doesn't even really get a chance to react to that before he's taking her down and out of the fight, doubled over Bucky's knee with a cough and gasping breath.

Bullets bounce brilliantly by Bunny's boisterous buffering buckler.

As she comes rolling out of the tunnel, she rolls over the poor guard that was shooting at her! And then she's rebounding all over the place as Emiko comes up behind the guard she collided with and manages to take him down and disarm him. Most of the workers from inside are starting to flee now that the jig seems to be up!

Mania rips into Mecha Red, who goes from trying to attack Giant to trying to swat her like the bug he percieves her to be. "You can try to stop me!" he slams his hand down, missing Mania by inches before she comes down on the cables. They spark and explode and the Mecha comes to a halt, powering down and locked into place. Apparently there was no internal battery and now -- whoever was piloting it is left trapped inside!

"I told them this was a bad idea..." Mecha Pink whimpers, unable to move and a triumphant Silk standing over her. It clearly isn't Wedensday, because Bunny's the only one wearing pink.

And Kate is running towards Giant. Who for the last several minutes has been sitting, curled in a ball to protect himself - though he looks like he has very little damage. "Games?" he asks, perking up. "I like games!" She's got his attention, clearly.

Bunny Macleod has posed:
Bunny's boisterous buffering bunker busting bucky ball sans Bucky bounces around, running over people and causing Bunny to cackle like the rainbow colored gremlin she is on the inside, until she winds her way down to the other girl in the bubble.

This is where she stops, releases her bubble, and takes a DEEEEEEEEEEEEP breath before she puts her head between her knees "OHGOD that was so dizzying." she complains, then gives a little skate forward and around the platform.

"Red Arrow! HEy! I think this is the power plug for the Lightbright here!" she calls out "If we pull this, think it'll power down the operation?"

Emiko Queen has posed:
Once she's got the man down Emiko extras ziptie cuffs from her utility belt and gets his hands bound, just in case he wakes up before they want him to.

Now onto the matter of the girl in the giant energy jar while Bucky is dealing with Primrose. Though she appreciates the man's pragmatic no-nonsense approach to the matter. The lady may not strictly be a villain but she's clearly caught up in some of the wrong ideas about how these matters are handled.

Dealing with super-science machinery isn't really her thing but she's learned a trick or two from dealing with various tech savvy supervillains.

You find whatever equivilent to a power plug there is, and unplug it. She smirks a little as Bunny comes to the same conclusion. "Let's." Between the two of them it shouldn't be difficult to do so.

Then they can get the girl to the Quinjet and somewhere safer to try and figure out what's really going on with her.

Andi Benton has posed:
"We told you, we're too fast for you and you're not our type," Mania taunts, utilizing her own quickness, the symbiote's sense of all things around it, and webbing for a quick dart to the side before cutting through the life-giving cables. The sparking pops cause her to draw back a bit, but the eyes reflect the smugness of the result - which happens to time just right with the oil slick from Kate. Mech Red falldowngoboom.

More words. "Oh, what happened? You fell and can't get up? Bet you wish you had Life Alert!" Based on the way Red fell, the back of the head is visible, along with a hatch. "Let's see who's in there."

Shortly afterward, the doorway is opened up and hands - both back to normal - move in to apprehend the pilot. "For all the trouble you're causing, you'd better have some chocolate in here." That's more Mania talking than Andi, but neither of them would complain about a snack.

Kate Bishop has posed:
Kate nods to the Giant since his attention is focused on her. "Yeah games are fun right." she cocks her head. "I'm Hawkeye and my friends who helped make the bullies stop are Mania and Silk, what's your name?" keeping it light and moving a smidge from games right now.

She keeps an eye on the mechs and the Giant though. Unlike Molly she can't be thrown through a brickwall without needing a medic if she is lucky and a casket if she isn't.

Mark Grayson has posed:
When Emiko pulls the cord, the base is plunged into darkness. The girl falls forward, clearly unconscious. Who knows how long she had been trapped in there before she is rescued by the pair who start to make their way out of the tunnel with the former captive.

Outside, Mania rips open the back of Mecha Red and finds that the pilot is barely in his teens. She was right about that, at least. "Back off!" he tries, but the symbiote is easily able to subdue him - but alas, no chocolate to be found.

"My name?" Giant looks confused as he looks down at Kate, and folds his arms over his legs in thought. "Giant. My name is Giant and I want to be President of the United States."

And after a moment, he adds, "And an Astronaut."

Andi Benton has posed:
Mania ignores the protests of the way too young pilot, eyes narrowed again. "Shut up, sit down, and don't try to go anywhere. This is over," she says, with what sure sounds like a hiss. Should he still disobey, he can get some webbing around the arms and legs.

Crossing her arms as Kate tries to deal with 'Giant,' her mouth - even if it isn't visible right now - doesn't stop, saying as an aside, "He seems like a space cadet. We think he's already on the way."
