Tinyplot: Hydra vs UN

Monet St. Croix has posed:
The Holland Tunnel is a long underwater series of tunnels going between New York and New Jersey. Each tube is roughly a mile and a half long, with multiple lanes of traffic. It's in rush hour mode, and things are moving slowly as people head into and out of the city. The ventilation systems are thrumming, and the noise mostly consists of swearing, insults, complaints about how slow things are going..
The normal sorts of things New Yorkers and New Jerseyans stuck in the permanent state of traffic go on about. Transit police watch along from walkways, on hand in case of injuries, traffic accidents, or any of the normal sorts of things that can happen underground.
Unfortunately, today is not going to be one of those normal sorts of things. Along the upper curves of the tubes, detonations start to go off! One each every three hundred feet or so, explosives blasting along and making the tunnel shake, cars tumble over, and chaos fill the (very tight) air.

Kitty Pryde has posed:
Kitty Pryde reaches over and fiddles with the sound system in the car of one Roberto Da Costa. "Thanks for driving. Was lucky to locate some parts of the new computers I'm putting together in the base. While I might enjoy designing and fabricating parts myself, that's a lot more time investment," she says as she flips around some satellite radio stations. Finally finding one playing disco.

"Oh yeah, here we go," Kitty says, flashing a grin over to the Brazilian young man as ABBA floods the car. "You know if my mother saw me right now she'd probably try to set me up with a nice Jewish boy," Kitty teases her Catholic friend. "Hope the tunnel isn't too backed up today."

Lucy Blaze has posed:
Lucy straddles a motorcycle on the fool's errand trying to cross states during rush hour. Bad idea for anyone short-tempered, which seems to be everyone not chronically shell-shocked and inured to the bad habits of Jersey and New York drivers.

Her bike is build for speed and raw horsepower, all Italian lines and fine-tuned engineering instead of a big hog or a teeny-weeny Vespa. The Vespa might get better fuel economy. As it is, she contemplates steering in and out of stop and go traffic. There are worse ideas.

Slippery sweet harmonics growl behind the glowing red tail-lights. Something rattles even louder than the motorcycle when revved. She recognizes an explosion, and moves on instinct, on ancient experience. The helmeted rider twists the bike around in the tight spot, muscling several hundred pounds of carbon fibre, steel, and plastic back onto a walkway and down again into open spaces to get behind a box truck. Bouncing Fords and Teslas won't improve matters any but she isn't gonna sacrifice her bike!

Bruce Banner has posed:
Bruce Banner is in the back of an Uber, having visited a research lab on the other side of the tunnel and making his way back to head towards Avengers Headquarters and hopefully a soothing bit of meditation. With a pizza. Pepperoni.

Then the explosions happen and he perks up, pulling out his earbuds. He reaches forward and taps the driver on the shoulder. The guy's frozen in place, foot on the brakes, "Don't sweat it. I think this is where I get out," he says, giving the guy a good rating and getting out of the car. He starts to jog along the side of the road towards the explosions. Either he'll find someone official or he'll find someone to help. Either way, Avenger duty calls.

Jane Roe has posed:
The tunnel was part of a regular bus route from New York to New Jersey and back, and as the luch kad it, Jane was sitting on one of those busses, waiting for it to get onto the other side. On her lap rested a laptop, 3D models of math spinning on the screen as she seemed to stare onto it. The lower corner of the screen seemed to be used as a notebook for something, network addresses to be precise, when the first detonations occured behind, dashing closer over the trafic jam and shake the cars. Jane's eyes narrow as signals behind flick out as devices die from blowing up, one very similar signature right above the bus catching her attention.

Her eyes close as she concentrates hard, her heart racing as she dissects the outer layer of the modified cellphone's code and just in the nick of time forced it into shutdown right before the call for triggering the explosives connected. But stopping a single one did not stop the cascade running forward down the tunnel, shaking the bus and hushing the lights...

Priscilla Kitaen has posed:
Priscilla is so new to SHIELD that she is still learning, a lot of things. Earlier she came across a person with that same mysterious symbol visible only due to her Truesight. She followed the man, unable to get much from his thoughts since his mind was a mess. She's only come across brainwashing once before but this is similar, albeit much worse. The only thing of substance she got was the name of the tunnel. Unable to report her suspicions she decided to go check it out.

She arrives just in time to see the first detonation and calls it in before running towards the tunnel with a determined expression. She trips and sprawls onto the pavement in shock when running past Bruce Banner, rolling to her feet with a blush. Such an undignified move for a former dancer! Maybe no one saw that.

M'gann M'orzz has posed:
Megan Morse is in an Uber!

She had errands in the city, but one of those errands has turned into a full on trek that is now going to take her across the river into Jersey. Sure, she could have cheated and just flown there, but when she's wearing the human face, she tries to keep to human modes of transportation. It helps her to get a better feel for the persona, and to observe how humans handle these modes of transportation! All to the betterment of her cultural and social understanding.

While the Uber driver might be angry and cussing out the world, Megan has been happily working on a paper for one of her classes on her laptop. The sound of the detonations, however, doesn't escape her sharp ears, and she twists quickly in the seat, looking this way and that. Pulling out her phone, she pays the man for the full trip and a good tip and says, "I need to get out here. I'm so sorry, I made sure to rate you five stars!" She flashes a grin before exiting the vehicle so she can find a shadowy part of the tunnel with which to do her 'magic girl transformation'.

To note, she is not actually magic or magical. But friends are gonna tease!

Monet St. Croix has posed:
The lights in the tunnel flicker, even as cracks go along the heavily reinforced shafts from the explosions. Along Jane's end, there's no detonation as she shuts down the bomb in her area. But people are rapidly getting out of cars and freaking out now in the Saturday traffic. Emergency lights kick on as more explosions go through the tunnel.
Now there are four particularly heavy ones - these are over at the entrances and exits to the tunnel, designed to block everyone in and bury them! Up above, there's WHOOMPH-THSH as the ventilation system sputters out. THat sends oxygen through it, sucks out gasses and fumes..

Roberto da Costa has posed:
Roberto Da Costa loves to drive, he can fly, fast too, but he still loves to drive the most powerful cars he can find. This is a McClaren, handle like a dream it's almost a shame to confine it to Manhattan's congested streets but he does fly it out to more open roads a few times a year, or he did. Berto laughs and shakes his, head, grinning, "Not at all, does she not approve of the company you keep? She really is afraid you're going to fall in love with me? I am neither winged enough or buff enough to keep your attention, methinks." He slides through the weekend traffic like the expert he is. He slides between to cars and down into the tunnel as the explosion sounds and the structure and traffic start to go haywire. He veers to the right, using the cars mass to shove a heavier mini van out of the path of an oncoming panel truck which is veerign to avoid a section of tunnel. "Madre de dios! Kitty, phase, phase us now." He grabs the pretty Jewish girls hand.

Kitty Pryde has posed:
Kitty laughs at Roberto's response to her quip. "Oh, no she trusts me. I'm just yanking your chain," Kitty tells Roberto as they enter the tunnel. The ABBA song ends and it gives way to Stayin' Alive by the BeeGees. "Damn, I'm going to need to get satellite rad-"

Her words cut off as the explosions start. She's already phased herself at the sound of that first blast, having trained herself to phase when startled. She does reach over for Roberto but doesn't phase him yet, knowing he is working the car's pedals and steering wheel.

It doesn't take long though at his exclamation though for her to phase the two of them. She keeps them in their seats in the car for now, though Roberto can start climbing out if he wants, she'll move with him and keep a hand in his. "Crap, the whole river could come rushing in!" she exclaims as dust and debris shower the tunnel.

Bruce Banner has posed:
Bruce Banner had just entered the tunnel when he hears the explosions above. Well. That's not great.

He breaks into a sprint, trying to get ahead but, even if he tries to stay in shape, he's a nerd at heart. Bruce Banner will forever be the last in all of the yearly Avengers physicals. He was the oldest (physically) and much preferred late nights at a keyboard to hitting the gym.

He tried to keep calm, tried, but it wasn't working, he could feel his heart rate rising, his skin growing flushed. He'd hoped to try to help with his mind, to prove that he was more than the Hulk, but mortal peril still triggered instincts, fight or flight, and he felt the fear and the fear hit him and then a massive chunk of tunnel landed on his back, shattering his bones, splintering his spine and he screams and his screams start at fear but they turn...

They turn to RAGE.

Lucy Blaze has posed:
The mirrored faceplate on Lucy's helmet reflects lurid bursts and trailing smoke. People rush past its gleaming contours or huddle behind their cars. She glances up at the tunnel ceiling to ensure nothing immediately threatens collapse and then moves at a stalking, purposeful gait that radiates don't-mess-with-me energy.

Red riding hood in a moto jacket and matching boots takes a path beyond mangled wiring and blown-out fan blades, the black smoke engulfing her in inky tongues. Flaming debris belched from the silent tunnels spatters down over her and a few other drivers milling around in confusion and she knocks it away with a gloved wrist, embers casually directed into the wall. Pointed fingers indicate the New York side exit, steering them to Priscilla's general vicinity by chance. A shove sends a bewildered man in a suit on his way.

She doesn't stop moving, halting at a metal panel on the wall connected by tubes and wires. Ripping the door open provides an opportunity for a brief assessment, and there she stands stock-still in mute assessment. No one ever labels anything and the Noughties era tags aren't much to go by. Lucy might be mistaken for a terrorist herself when she starts poking at the hub. Purposeful poking anyway.

Jane Roe has posed:
As the detonations stop, the hacker's breathing slows and she opens her eyes again. Slipping from her seat as Jane gathers her laptop and stuffs it to the other belongings, she fights the tremble of her fingers before she slowly makes her way to the front of the bus in the dimmed light ist from the cars outside. "Uh, driver? Mind... opening the door? I got to look at something... pretty much over the cab..." she asks the frightened looking woman in the uniform, earning a confused look back.

"I mean, I got to get out there and onto the bus. I mean, whatever happened, there's something at the ceiling right above the bus and I want to make sure it is safe before we get crushed... Just... turn of the car and let me get up there, ok?"

A minute or two later, Jane is climbing onto the bus roof, using a cellphone as a flashlight to try and spot the bomb that she disabled up there.

Roberto da Costa has posed:
The truck passes halfway through them before coming to rest. leaving them in the ruined car and a truckload of cabbages and other veggies. "Those bodegas are gonna miss this." He twines his finger with Kitty's in a casual sort of way as they make their way out of the crash. Berto looking around once they're clear, "Keep an ear out, I can collapse the tunnel in front of the water if need be." He goes vanta black at first but then the blackness in limned in pale light diffuse but bright enough to see by for several hundred feet. "Barring a flood I can weld some support in place to keep things stable until help arrives." He looks around in the now much less dark, "Hmm, you think that fan means the air is down?"

Priscilla Kitaen has posed:
Pris gives the pile of debris she barely managed to dodge a horrified look. She's about to reach out and psychically dampen the pain but knows who is about to emerge from that mess and resists the urge. Instead, she moves further into the tunnel as her own transformation takes place. Subconciously she knows her alien form can survive if water swamps the area. She's much stronger this way too.

The transformation happens fast and in moments the carmel skinned, blue eyed dancer is replaced by a green scaled alien with a muscular tail and functional wings. Her eyes glow red and her dark hair flutters down her back. Her purple black and gold outfit is made to accomodate her shifting and so at least she's still clothed. Growling, Pris hates this form, she moves towards a minivan and rips the door off, using her psychic powers to calm the inhabitants and send them out of the tunnel before moving to the next car.

This one takes some digging and tossing aside of large pieces of asphalt, concrete and rebar. The driver is dead and the the woman beside him.. Priscilla sighs and takes the woman's hand, projecting the illusion of the lady's husband for the woman and offering comforting words in her last moments. Standing, projecting the illusion of her human self so that she isn't mistaken for a monster, Priscilla looks around. She spies other heroes and good folk working and is relieved. She'll happily take non good folk too as long as they are helping. What a freakin' mess!

M'gann M'orzz has posed:
Once she managed to find a shadowy part of the tunnel, Megan melts away to allow for M'gann to take her place. Sure, they're one and the same, but she can't exactly go about being Miss Martian while looking all human!

Phasing herself through the tunnel, she comes back in through the ceiling with the green skin, the costume, the cape, the whole shebang. She looks around, but doesn't really recognize any other heroes there (at least not yet), so instead does the best thing she can think of. She moves to a central point of the tunnel and floats down to the ground.

Lifting both hands, she focuses her will and telekinetic ability, forming a canopy of sorts that conforms to the tunnel, stretching out as far as she can reach it, to help brace the cracking tunnel walls and ceiling. Hopefully that can hold until someone can get an opening in the tunnel to start getting people out of there!

Monet St. Croix has posed:
They have to brace. Brace and dig. Brace and hope they can hold the tunnel up and get all the people out. Dig the collapsed front ends and get people out. Get the air going again before people start to choke out and fumes build up. Before they're at risk of some of the cars going up. Or panic building. More cracks are building along the upper chambers of the tunnel. The blasts have destabilized it. NOt specifically targeted to break it down the middle.. But with that many bombs, it's still making a go of it!

SOme of the bombs haven't gone off - whether they were duds, fried in the systems, or disrupted by the ever-helpful Jane. But none of the cars are moving now and the area is staggering. Chunks of the 'ceiling' aren't quite falling but they are destabilized. More shakes or explosions might lead to a general collapse.

Zealot makes it her priority of going to the ventilation system and trying to rewire it. She might be mistaken for a terrorist, but they need to get people crawling and moving. THe ventilation system is wheezing off now, a minimum of air coming in as smoke and exhaust are starting to fill up.

Heroes are working at bracing the tunnel as it shakes and quakes. Whether they be gamma irradiated, mutants with force fields, or strange transofrming alien bug girls.

Bruce Banner has posed:
The pile of rubble atop the southern tunnel entrance starts to tremble. A massive pile, three dozen tons, at least. All of it explodes outwards at once as an explosive burst of power equal to what had pinned Banner moments ago.

The Hulk emerges with a snarl, preparing to lash out only to find the world crumbling around him. Whatever rage that ignited him, he saw the humans in danger and made them retreat from the endangered area by, of course, instilling terror. "RUN!" he howls.

Some remnant of Banner's mind lurked beneath, enough for Hulk to move to the proper support point on the side of the tunnel, applying his massive strength to holding it steady. For how long could Hulk hold it in place? Impossible to say. Hopefully someone would find a way to make any such stabilization permanent. Before Hulk ran out of strength.

Or out of patience.

Kitty Pryde has posed:
"I think that's exactly what it means," Kitty replies to Roberto as they phase through the crushed car and out onto the road. She turns to look back at the mound of debris blocking the New York side of the tunnel. "For now, why don't you get people moving this way, Roberto," Kitty says. "Tell people to shut their cars off so we don't fill it up with exhaust. And I'll start phasing people out. Bring me the ones who might be injured and can't make the trip on foot themselves. That work?"

She goes over to one of the cars that is half-buried in debris, leaning into it as she phases, finding the driver and phasing them out of it. "You're going to be ok," she tells them. "Let me get a half dozen people and we can pass through the debris to safety."

Lucy Blaze has posed:
Years worth of pollution and dust fouls the air. Zannah squares up her shoulders against the funk of forty thousand cars and whimpering girls shivering in the Holland tomb. Men rip at fallen debris to move it away for what little it will do, fighting to stay alive as the tunnel shivers with the irresistible warning of once Bruce Banner.

Hot polluted air and smoke writhes along the top of Megan's shield, choking thick and bound to fall closer to the roadway as the air supply is cut off and dampers sit inert. She steps closer to the box and starts moving her hands across the inert wires to find where the breaks in the circuits are, at what intersection lines have no power. Physical cords are pulled out and a knife, one of many she carries at any time, pulled out to pare the casings back so she can rewire what she needs. Bits of plastic shavings evaporate, or seem to. They never hit the floor as she forces them to shift into a metallic form and shoves them back into the system to patch the holes nearest to her.

"RUN!" should have her moving. Oh, maybe she trembles. But she doesn't stop in rewiring and cobbling together something from the nearest circuit boards into a workable pathway for electricity to move down if they can get the system online.

The smoke has halted her from actually noticing the Daemonite hybrid--this is a good thing. Priscilla's done nothing to earn an implacable murderous foe bounding out of nowhere to flatten her over a slight little miscommunication.

Jane Roe has posed:
While Jane spots the bomb overhead, and manages to snap a couple photos, it probes hard to be removed from just standing on the bus, and even then, it seems to be mounted to the rafters and secured with construction foam. And with no long tool like a shovel in hand, she can't really gather it down. The best... well... Slipping back off the bus, she gestures to the closest tunnel end, trying her best to appear calm and get people to follow some almost orderly plan.

"Please get moving if you can. Once help comes, it'll be from there. Turn off cars as you pass them if possible. Stay together, help others and, don't turn all cellphones to flashlight. Try to conserve some, the way is not short."

Roberto da Costa has posed:
Roberto Da Costa nods, and raises his voice projecting, his voice friendly and confident, "Everyone, move towards the light, we can get you out but you need to remain calm. If we work together we will get through this." Who says Berto didn't pay attention in Cyclops emergency preparedness and disaster survival class?"

He hovers and then darts forward into the dark, "This way, everyone, we can get you out. Shut down your vehicles, leave your belongings, quickly and calmly." How many can Kitty phase, they'd never tested but as far as Berto knew it was all about hand holding. Then there is the growl and the 'run' Berto stops and blinks, "It's okay, no, no remain calm. Shut down your vehicle, Ma'am I can't carry your luggage, no it's not a weight thing, I have to prioritize- yes, I can see its Louis Vuitton, but still no, I'm sorry."

Roberto is a beacon in the darkness as he moves through the wreckage using his own strength to clear a path for civilians, grabbing cars and suvs and tipping them up on end to form makeshift supprts ripping doors off cars, freeing those trapped inside helping the wounded, carrying an inhumanly large group back towards Kitty, "They're going to be gathered at the entrance that's EMS best practice, Should be some X-Corp there to help, who ever was around."

Priscilla Kitaen has posed:
It isn't meeting the Hulk like she'd hoped for but it is seeing him! Priscilla waves at giant green man as she darts past and shoots a thumbs up. She can see her particular gifts are best used in calming people and getting them out of their cars and moving. Hopefully those supporting the tunnel can keep it up long enough to get to get everyone out of here. She's afraid to consider what will happen if the air doesn't come back. She has no idea she'd survive that just fine but would be crushed to find out due to others dying. She's jaded yes but still so empathic.

Priscilla keeps working on digging out cars and helping people out of them, when she finds those too injured to move, she carries them herself. If she finds those that are near death or dying then she pauses long enough to comfort them as they pass, hurrying things along if necessary because time is at a premium here and if someone can't be saved then it's better they don't suffer. This day is gonna haunt her dreams for months but that doesn't stop her from doing her best to help. She never counts the cost to herself. Hearing Kitty's instructions as she moves further into the tunnel, Priscilla starts a telepathic broadcast that moves with her. ~Turn off and exit your vehicles and the tunnel. Don't panic but move as swiftly as you can.~ Her range is limited to those nearby her so she keeps moving as best as she can.

Scowling, she implants a suggestion to shut the hell up! and move now! in the mind of the lady bitching about her luggage. Pris would probably have left that one behind. Honestly! Okay, she's empathic but only towards people she finds deserving of empathy. Crazy Karens are not on that list.

Bruce Banner has posed:
Hulk sees the gleam of Roberto's power at the other end of the tunnel, getting people out. He digs his fingers into the concrete, reinforcing his grip. He's supporting a critical juncture, at least eighty tons of weight on his shoulders and only crowing greater as things get more and more unstable on his end.

Sunspot's light provides hope for Hulk, "LIGHT MAN HELP HULK. HULK HOLD UP TUNNEL!!!!" he shouts, his massive lungs giving the cry an almost concussive force that's thankfully mitigated by the time it reaches the heroes at the other end.

Monet St. Croix has posed:
Someone in the X-Men is clearly going to be owing some other person some money for this bit with Berto. Zanna is focused on jump starting the ventilation system. If it gets bad enough, they'll all be asphyxiated here even if the way out is open. There's still thousands and thousands of people and vehicles in here. It's all too easy for everyone to drop out from carbon monoxide poisoning. Hulk manages to smash his way through the blockages at one end, and heroes are working at holding up the entrances.

But above, water is starting to leak through. They're focused on bracing long enough to get people out.

And then there's Hulk. Moving to simply crunch his way on in, and hold UP the tunnel. However many tens of thousands of tons of steel and concrete. However many countless tons of water pushing down on them. The tunnel held up by force fields, telekinesis, and New Yorkers and tourists slowly being herded out.

M'Gann's telekinesis holds it up in place, bracing up all that steel. And Hulk, like Atlas holding up the sky, holds it firm.

M'gann M'orzz has posed:
M'gann strains under the weight of keeping her portion of the tunnel supported. On the plus side, those in her area are able to breathe a little easier as M'gann can pick and choose what gets through her telekinetic shields. So the air is a little cleaner, for as long as it lasts. On the down side, keeping the tunnel supported and the air breathable is taking the bulk of her concentration. She does get enough of a pause to send out a broadband telepathic ping, however..

<<Anyone that can, come over this way. I can keep the air clear and this part of the tunnel from collapsing. Gather up to make it easier for the others to get you to safety! Anyone with injuries, please stay put and call out so rescuers can find you!>>

Lucy Blaze has posed:
Zannah's makeshift structure takes form largely out of sight. She isn't a giant green monster or a glowing black shadow at one end. Hearing the telepathic ping from M'gann, she replies the same way: <<Oxygen will be coming online through the transverse tunnel system. Leave that to me.>>

Sooted wires or disconnected lines damaged by the explosive bursts need a fair bit of nudging along by her transmuting wire lengths together until they fit. At that point she leaves her place on the pedestrian walkway, heading at a jog down the tunnel to find the point where her work broke and resuming the task there. And further along, repeated until the ventilation system hopefully sputters to life with a rickety, slap-dash, and functional electrical system.

It's not her preferred method of fixing things but M'gann and Hulk cannot hold up the sky forever. Atlas shrugs. The sun goes down. Imperfection is the enemy of life and its hallmark.

She throws her hands upward and sends a blast of foetid wind through one of the double-barrel fans mounted onto the tunnel roof to force it to circulate, testing if it works.

Jane Roe has posed:
Coralling people into the trek to the close entry, Jane is moving the other way, turning off cars and sending people going as she can. She's not super powerful to stem up the walls, or fast or phasing, or forcefields. But she tells the people that help is so close, they just need to get going. Just need to walk a little and turn off the cars...

Kitty Pryde has posed:
As the first group of a half dozen make it to her, Kitty gives quick instructions. "Everyone grab my arm, and when I tell you, hold your breath. I'll take you through the debris to the other side, we'll just walk through it. Do NOT let go. Do not try to breathe inside the rock. Yes, this is a mutant saving you," Kitty tells them, barking off the instructions quickly and in a voice of authority that she achieves by imagining she's Logan in the moment.

She reaches out, taking hold of two people, while everyone else have to grab her arms. "Ok, hold your breath, and don't let go," she says. And then they are passing through the debris and emerging on the other side. Once they are all clear Kitty says, "Ok, let go now, you're safe.

As first responders and bystanders see them emerge, they rush over to help. "I'm going to keep bringing more out. If you have air tanks and masks I can take back in for people to breathe from," she tells a paramedic.

Then she turns and runs back through the debris to gather the next group.

Roberto da Costa has posed:
Roberto Da Costa frowns as the air gets a bit worse, his powers rendering him more immune than most but he needs to breath to speak. He finds an EMS truck and gets the officers moving, helping the people around them. They are of course initially reticent, "How do we know this isn't some mutant terrorist plot?!" Then Hulks yells about light man and Roberto points, "See, I'm practically an Avenger, Cap wants you to get these people moving. Let's do it for Cap."

He nods and rips the doors off the EMS truck, welding them to the ceiling, blocking the worst of the leaks and providing some degree of support. He finds scraps of metal from vehicles and and debris and uses them to make repairs, like a certain little Dutch boy staving off Disaster.

He stops to call out to Hulk, and give him the thumbs up, "We got this big guy! I'll come back for you... if I can."

Priscilla Kitaen has posed:
After a moment to take stock, Priscilla realizes that her protective illusions are taking energy she doesn't have to spare. She pins her SHIELD badge to the front of her chest and drops the illusions, hoping for the best. If anyone freaks over her appearance she can just calm them. Hopefully the badge will prevent the need! People freaking out over the sudden alien in their midst is not gonna help the poor agents self esteem but their lives are more important than her issues.

She sees the weak life signs in a car burried by the rubble and digs it out in a hurry. It's still not fast enough for one of those life signs and an overwhelming sense of rage and grief strikes those nearest to her before Pris gains control of herself. She pulls the infant carrier out of the remains of the vehicle, the only one to survive this particular incident and rushes out of the tunnel, leaving the baby with a group of escapes with children of their own.

If she ever finds who was responsible for this.. there *will* be a reckoning. Brain washed or not. This is just unacceptable. It takes a minute but Pris puts the image of the tiny body in that car from her mind and focuses on making sure everyone still living has the best chance of remaining alive. Later it will dawn on her that she never once had trouble breathing like some of the others. Fortunately, the realization doesn't strike her now because the flood of self hate over being such a monsterous freak would be paralyzing. Will be paralyzing actually. "Nice!" She gives Roberto a thumbs up at his take on handling the Hulk. She'd briefly considered trying her telepathy with the green giant but this is not a good place to experiment. If it goes wrong.. yeah, no. There's more than enough wrong in this situation already.

Monet St. Croix has posed:
It's working, they can do this. Zanna's jury rigging is getting the fans going - just enough to get a small amount of air moving, and to get out the worst of the fumes so they're not at risk of smoke bringing everything to a halt. But it's only a temporary solution. The system is badly damaged and is going to need a lot of work done later. Provided the tunnel survives! But air is moving, and so are people. Them being guided out, phased out, taken out in groups. But there's a lot of them. Thousands of them that need to be quickly taken care of.

Jane's work has identified whatever explosives are left that didn't go off and neutralized them so they don't have to worry about any more detonations. Roberto's waving them on in a way akin to Booster Gold - chin up, I'm BFF"s with Superman, you wouldn't want to let Superman down now would you?

But it's still a rush - they have to keep huge numbers of people calm, when all of the cars are off and backed up, through pieces of debris and stuck things. People aren't panicking, but a lot of them are terrified. They have to keep them reassured and moving before something big breaks - or even makes a noise.

In other words, don't use this time to try out your new Hulk Hands.

Bruce Banner has posed:
Hulk gives Roberto a big giant green behemoth nod.

"HULK OKAY BUT HULK HAVE ITCH ON ANKLE. IRRITATING!"

But, for now, his shoulders do not yet tremble.

Roberto da Costa has posed:
Roberto Da Costa blinks and pauses, then nods seriously and does what any hero would.

He scratches that ankle, he scratches it just where Hulk tells him it itches but not too good, I mean we still want him angry. right? But irritated? No one needs that.

Once the emergency is dealt with Beto rises and returns to getting people out, he flies many of the worst injured out the New Jersey end, handing them off, giving what information he can. Then back into the fray, he takes a moment and gathers the last rays on sunlight before heading back to keep moving people.

"He arrives at Kitty's waystation, "The other end is open, but this is still your best bet, there's a lot of detritus, I will fly out the worst wounded."

Kitty Pryde has posed:
Kitty Pryde meets up with Roberto as he helps get more people to the pile of debris. "I could probably sink some of the big pieces into the ground," she says, but sounding hesitant. "But I've never really tried that before, probably anything above it would keep falling down without something to brace it," she tells the Brazilian New Mutant while she's gathering the next group to take through.

She looks down the tunnel, seeing the people gathering near M'gann. "Glad there are others here to help too," she says. She gives a wave that way and then nods to ROberto. "Ok, I'll keep it up here. I might have air tanks soon and ventilators to breathe from if they can get some here. " She turns then and takes the next group through the debris.

Jane Roe has posed:
going deeper into the Tunnel... Jane becomes pretty much the end of the column of people, cleaning out those that are unharmed first and asking them to do their part in aiding the wounded. To be a good person and just lend the neighbor a hand or risk facing Captain America's disapproving scow. Because, Rogers is after all the american dream come true. "You want to gain a handshake with him? Then go and help the ones that can't walk! The cavalry is keeping the tunnel up, just walk slowly and carefully. I see that you are not the last, Do your Part!"

Monet St. Croix has posed:
People are being shuffled out in groups. The most important thing is keeping them calm. They're on a clock but they can achieve it. But if people start freaking out then it gets much, much harder. Many head out through the tunnel that Hulk is lifting up (plenty of them looking up at him in a mix of awe and terror) while an old man goes, "Anyone ever tell you you look a lot like Lou Ferigno?"

Kitty phases people through quickly as emergency services are passing along oxygen tanks. It's very much an improvised system as they're passed along down to the end to let people cycle through and breathe. From outside, there's sounds of cranes coming in. Damage Control.

Priscilla Kitaen has posed:
Priscilla gives Jane a considering look and nods in approval. That's a pretty effective way to get people moving and helping for someone not using psionic powers. It's not like she *wants* to force people to do what's needed but weighed against their survival, she'll make them do whatever is necessary every time. If she didn't have these abilities obviously she'd find another way. Since she does have them though, Pris uses them.

After helping several more people to safety Priscilla looks around and sighs. What a mess. She's escorting one last family out and then pauses to sit and take stock.. how long have they been at this? It's dark now.. damn. She's about to head back in.. though she straggling at this point.

Roberto da Costa has posed:
Roberto Da Costa finds a trailer being towed by a Subaru crossover, which is really a station wagon with good PR. He dumps the contents and loads on the most greivously wounded, taking everyone, His actions are calm and his voice is confident as the stragglers approach Kitty, he arranges them, quickly but gently and when they are set in place, He lifts the trailer and rises into the air, it is just big enough to fit out the Jersey side. He places it on the ground, "Get everyone back, I'm not sure how much longer we can it up." He flies back into the tunnel, doing a last search and bringing anyone left to Kitty, "Okay, this is it. You get them out and I'll get Big green before this place comes down around us."

Kitty Pryde has posed:
Kitty Pryde has returned with some of those oxygen tanks, and masks that the firemen provide. The people take turns breathing as Kitty takes out another group. Then returns, nodding to Roberto as he lets her know how it's going. "We're getting close down here," she says. She offers smiles to the others who are helping people like Priscilla, trying to keep their energy up.

The number of people continues to decrease, until there are just the last trips to make. "We need to thank whoever is keeping the water out," Kitty says on the last trip, glancing up at the roof.

Monet St. Croix has posed:
They've managed to hold out long enough to get the people out and the tunnel stabilized. Emergency Services are going in now putting up braces and supports to hold up the tunnel and fans to keep air circulating. Foam is being sprayed about to smother any possible fires and seal up the cracks. They've gotten people out safely, the nightmare of towing out ten thousand cars is totally NOT their problem.

Hulk is probably going to be at the center of a lot of memes come soon though.

Roberto da Costa has posed:
Roberto Da Costa stays, helping the workers and talking to Hulk, providing support to the support. He also sucks up any fires that flare up as they're working. He makes a call gets some of the X-Corp personnel down to the scene getting them working with the Emergency Responders, normalizing mutants using their powers to help. It's small but every step helps.
