Hydra vs SHIELD: Counterstrike
Date of Scene: 10 April 2024
Location: Secret Hydra Base
Synopsis: Hydra attacked the United Nations and made many people suffer. Now it's payback, and SHIELD is putting the blast back in them. Time to remind the serpent that SHIELD has bite and claws and vengeance.
Cast of Characters: Natasha Romanoff, Marc Slayton, Nick Fury, Bruce Banner, Priscilla Kitaen, James Barnes, Clea, Kenesha, Richard Stadler

Natasha Romanoff has posed:
Good work by SHIELD's Intel division had tracked down a massive Hydra base built into the inside of a hollowed out mountain. One with hundreds of troopers, technicians, a massive assembly line for making war machines of DEATH and all those insidious things that Hydra made to bring the world to it's KNEES.
In the scrambling days since the United Nations attack had been beaten back, investigation had been going on, it was time to take the fight to Hydra.

And here were the heroes, front door of the massive mountain base being blasted right open as sirens wailed and breaches were made!

Marc Slayton has posed:
Marc Slayton was here. The shadows were his friend as he moves through the wall, quiet and stealth, his concubine. The sounds of everything going on tantalizes his ears, an exquisite symphony of sounds and life - and death.

Marc's mask covers his face, the only revelation as to who he was, the midnight blue and black and silver armour he wore, and his silver hair, cut short as always. Scanning what they were facing, he pauses. A moment in time. Waiting for his moment to strike.

Marc avoids the explosions, the front gate, the glory. He was here with one purpose...to win, and to keep his comrades safe, secure and alive. He may not be Superman, but his spirit was one that flodded this metahuman's veins. Most of the time.

Nick Fury has posed:
And there stands Director Nicholas Fury, in Operations, overseeing everything from the now un-cloaked helicarrier. The room is abuzz with information being called from one station to another, communication with ground, with air support, with the other decks in support of this (hopefully) final showdown with HYDRA. His expression is inscrutible; his thoughts currently his own as he listens in to the radio chatter.

Bruce Banner has posed:
Hulk stands back, the massive green behemoth allowing the puny humans to take down the gate. It would make them feel important. Humans liked to feel important. Stupid humans. Hulk knew it was better to be ignored. Hulk missed not knowing people. Stupid friends.

Stupid Hydra.

Banner's underlying rage at Hydra's crimes was enough to keep the Hulk enflamed enough and ready to fight, but holding back until he's given carte blanche to indulge that rage. Remarkable restraint for the Jade Giant.

One can't expect it to last long.

Priscilla Kitaen has posed:
Voodoo sucked it up and transformed before leaving so she'd arrive fully ready to fight, and she is definitely ready to fight. These assholes have trampled on her last nerve. That attack on the UN.. the things she'd sensed and felt and *seen* during the end of the battle.. Not good. She doesn't want to go there. Doesn't want to admit to the new abilities she's being forced to become aware of. Right now it's easier to just take the fight to the enemy. Blame everything on them. It's not as if they don't have it coming anyway.

Her alienness is on full display. A green scaled monster with wings and tail, black claws and glowing red eyes. She makes no attempt to hide the part of herself she hates, hoping to strike fear in the hearts of her enemies. Fear that she's projecting to the ones close enough to be in her range. They *will* be afraid. That fear doesn't hit her allies though and she's careful not to project anything a the Hulk as she nears him. A tiny moment is taken to marvel at the fact she's standing next to the Hulk!! And then those eyes are focues on the battle about to take place once more.

James Barnes has posed:
Bucky's always down for making HYDRA bleed a little, but he's also always a little on edge when doing so. Why wouldn't he be with all the times they've dragged him off and wiped his memories? A little case of the nerves certainly isn't going to stop him.

When the door is blown open wide, he's ready for it.

Rifle up and ready, the world's most feared assassin, goes through that door, left to right he sweeps the room prepared to light up any immediate threat.

Clea has posed:
Clea's been floating, because her feet don't touch the ground without conscious thought on her part. She'd been watching Hulk for some of the trip. Once they'd gotten to their destination there was a look around to the others, the white haired sorceress taking note of what faces were here. The silvery haired one is not know, but it's hard to make introductions when everyone is out for revenge.

"Hulk if you need any help in there just give me a call." she tells her big green friend. She wasn't wanting to get a third punch at this rate.

She then heads off to do what she's been doing best the last few months. Making bad decisions!

Kenesha has posed:
Now THIS is the sort of frontal assault that is a weapons-lover's dream!

Normally, Kenesha is more of a live and let live sort.. but these are HYDRA. And HYDRA is no better than nazis. So when she steps forward, its with the heavy artillery. Leading off with the rail gun she took from Crossbones, she's loosing a barrage of explosive shots towards the artillery and 'nests' that litter the outside, trying to take down the big frontal defenses first.

Without pause, she slides the rail gun back into the magic satchel and pulls a Daniel Defense DDM4 V7 to follow Bucky into the base. Wingman's gonna wingman! She keeps at the ready, m mumruring, "Let me know if you need a clip or pineapple. Got your back."

Marc Slayton has posed:
Marc Slayton stays in the shadows, and will make sure that the heroes and troops are safe and sound, a kind of sniper in the darkness.

Richard Stadler has posed:
Rick had decided he wanted to be here for the operation to take down this facility; it was... difficult, to make that decision. The Starport, the actions at the UN, and ramping up for this one, had all happened quickly, one after the other, and he certainly was feeling all of the approaching fifty years on this plane of existence. Muscles hurt everywhere, and his energy reserves had to have been hovering near zero. But he had seen people, dedicated people, die to energy blasts that would have come from here, and he knew that he wouldn't be able to get good rest knowing this operation was going on without him.

So he put on the body armor, pulled the mask down over his face, properly sealed it, and waited for the detonation of the main gate in front of them. Barnes had a rifle, and so did Kenesha (the former he only knew by reputation, and he certainly thought to return the rifle to the latter). They went one way to clear, so Stadler when the opposite, peeling off and covering the opposite side, firing the Mark 17 at any target of opportunity that popped up on his way toward cover.

One of these days, there was going to be an operation that could be handled by 4 strike eagles and a comfortable blind somewhere.

Natasha Romanoff has posed:
It's very much a 'send them to hell, let the devil sort them out' sort of melee. As the Director himself observes, and the heroes breach in. The first wave of defenders are focused almost entirely on the Hulk, the most obvious target. Dozens and dozens of Hydra troopers having among the most advanced, most powerful weapons that the Earth has ever seen go to open fire on him. With a barrage that could shatter a mountain, dozens and dozens of munitions blast upon him! Plasma cannons, kinetic blasters, friction rifles, disintegrator rays, concussion cannons! All those twisted weapons of mass destruction that Hydra can bring to bear upon him. Hulk makes a big, obvious target as the doors are blasted fully open.

And that makes it all too easy for the rest of the SHIELD rabble rousers intent on making the place into rubble to spread out. There's massive amounts of heavy machinery spread out through the numerous levels of the mountain dug out like asupervillain lair. Fusion reactors, assembly lines producing Dreadnaughts, heavy artillery.. Virtually everything the evil organization could use to make weapons of mass destruction with is at hand!

For those going in the front door, there's plenty of fun and fire. For those going in the side door.. There's plenty of quiet as everyone's running towards the front one to sneak in via whatever means of subterfuge they can.

James Barnes has posed:
With each grunt Bucky takes down that case of the nerves gross less and less. He falls right into Soldier mode, without the icy cold of Winter. Make no mistake, even without that frigid part of himself knocking at the door, he's still a killing machine.

*Pop, Pop, Pop, Pop* It's the sound of bullets hitting their marks. All he offers Kenesha as a response is a quick nod of his head. It's easy enough for him to clear this first wave. On to the next. But first, fuck those Dreadnaught babies not off the line yet. He holds a hand out to Kenesha. Three fingers beckoning - pineapple it is. Wingman's gonna wingman. Three fingers pineapple, four clip.

Once he has a grenade in hand, he pulls the pin with his teeth and lets it fly. That *BOOM* is a lot louder than any *Pop Pop* made earlier.

Nick Fury has posed:
It gets harder and harder to get 'first attack' approved, particularly this spectacularly. If Director Fury was the sort who said 'I told you so', the attack on the tunnel and the UN would absolutely have been that crowning moment. But, this attack with the roster of heroes that answered SHIELD's call, both on the payroll and other 'contractors', it's a loud enough statement to reverberate back to Washington, 'I fucking told you so.'.

Sometimes deeds speak louder than words. And no one does loud deeds quite like the Director of SHIELD.

Bruce Banner has posed:
Hulk turns his head towards Clea as she calls out to him. There's an expression of surprise on the Hulk's face - he's still not used to having humans regard him with anything other than some degree of fear, repressed or otherwise. Of course, Clea wasn't exactly human either. Hulk would think about it.

Then the first shot of energy blaster hits him in the shoulder and he turns a rageful face towards the door. "HULK TALKING TO GIRL!" Hulk yells and then, with a massive spring in his huge legs, he sends himself hurtling forward into the fray. He's a living battering ram, a walking disaster, a violent storm of raw destruction that just starts annihilating his way into the Hydra ranks. The smart ones do their best to stay clear, but he has enough sense to target big weapons, taking the punishment that many of the others can't take, shield and tank, all in one.

Priscilla Kitaen has posed:
Voodoo is quick to start sowing chaos, finding those with the weakest minds and turning them to fire on their companions instead of the Hulk or any of her companions. Even if she can only manage three or four at a time and they are taken out quickly, it's a thing they probably haven't run into before. They have no idea she's the one causing their agents to turn, though it probably won't take them long to figure it out.

She uses her nails to claw and rend with one hand and the other drags the nearest fallen body to be a shield whenever she's taking heavy fire. At times she manages to get that free hand on someone and simply orders them to "Stop breathing." Or "Lie down and die." Voodoo doesn't care how they accomplish said death, just that they do it. So far when the enemy agents are about to fire on Voodoo, they pause in bemusement as she simply disappears from their sight. She isn't trusting that her mental prowess will work on everyone here, so she's using magic to cloak herself with invisibility. Only for brief moments so as not to drain herself but it's enough to save her for now.

Clea has posed:
Clea's crown flames into view once she's cleared her entrance. She does hear the gunfire and the other sounds, but she's focused on finding something that will throw a wrench in the whole big old Hydra machine. At least this one. She finds what she is looking for, but it is guarded, "You guys didn't order a pizza, did you?" she asks as she blasts both of the front guards with flaming bolts of magic.

"Who is next?!" she calls down the hallways towards other guards that are rushing forward.

Richard Stadler has posed:
The big guy was taking a lot of fire for the group of those entering at the front, to be certain... and then plowing into them with a lack of subtlety that was frankly admiring; Rick wasn't going to waste the opportunity it presented... though there was a question on if a scientist with a gun was needed at this particular operation, with such heavy hitters-
Hisnother two quick rounds directed at security popping around a corner, before Stadler slid behind more concrete as a plasma bolt sizzled through the air uncomfortably close. At least he got to use the rather expensive ammunition; He didn't even know they still made 7.62 millimeter SLAP anymore, but it seemed SHIELD must have a cottage industry somewhere. Another few pulls of the trigger, and the way was clear enough to head down the corridor... maybe getting pulled too thin on the line here. Some coordination wouldn't be amiss.

<<I've got some plastique with me; going to try to go for their power generation systems. This isn't a one man job. Anyone able to cover?>>

Kenesha has posed:
Kenesha lets off a fwe short bursts to drop some of the waves of shock troopers, moving with precision and covering wherever Bucky isn't at a given moment. Almost as if they've done this before. THe call for a pineapple has her slipping a hand into her satchel and handing over... well, it's definitely a grenade. It's not the typical grenade, but it's definitely a grenade. It has a pin, it has a lever... but it has an interesting effect!

Once thrown, it explodes on contact with a nasty wave of superheated plasma in addition to the explosion itself. If aimed at the Dreadnoughts, the plasma will start to eat through the metal with white hot glow. Any troopers caught in the blast radius.. well. Superheated plasma is no kinder to skin and bone than it is to metal.

She lets off a few cracking rounds to put any out of their misery that are hit by the plasma and not immediately put down.

Natasha Romanoff has posed:
Amazing how much a direct shot to the gut can make hesitation and willingness go away. For SHIELD, this might be the equivalent of having taken a brutal slug to the chin, and now responding with a haymaker - with a set of brass knuckles involved. Hydra had given them a shot, now they were getting one back. Hydra fought with scale and with fury.

Hulk writ metaphorical annihilation through Hydra ranks, slamming them back and forth, sending them flying, hitting the ground and dropping hard as weapons fire would bounce off him like it was nothing! Hulk's position as brute force tank at the front works just the way it should.

Voodoo causes chaos amongst the ranks of Hydra. As she makes those with weak minds (surprisingly often amongst the nazi fanatics), making them shoot one another, willingly turn on one another, and panic as fire goes everywhere. And green on green becomes quite common.

Bucky and his 'wingman' move through the back, bypassing anyone in their way as they go to the Dreadnaughts. Weapons that Hydra had used in various degrees of advancement for decades, waiting to come off the assembly line to rampage.. Now just so much expensive scrap metal as they would detonate, adding to the fire and cacophony. Bucky and Kenesha definitely have fun making dozens and dozens of killer walkers explode to nothing.

Clea's Faltine magic is beyond that which the crazed lunatics can fathom. As they shoot at her, blast at her, nothing seems to work at all as energy bolts would be reflected back, soldiers drop, and freaks go feral!

Hulk was Hulk for a reason while Richard crept along with his detonators. Weapons ready along with cover to make the big place go *boom* as soon as they found just the right spot. And those big, hungry power generators making the entire mountain hum even as things exploded and the mountain shook were an awfully tempting target.

While passing by, Richard would hear someone going.. "Hail hydra hail immortal hydra. If they can't see me then they don'tknow I'm here. I'm invisible, none of them know it. Hide, all is right with the world, they'll neverk now I'm here." There was a man in SHIELD's voluminous files about Hydra that had joined the evil terrorist organization in the vain hope of impressing his wife, and getting free dental care.

Finding out that neither was possible.

It was the Hydra Agent known simply in the files..

As Bob, Agent of Hydra.

James Barnes has posed:
It's time to head up, not everything that needs to bleed or be blown to bits is on this bottom level and Bucky's pretty sure Hulk can handle what's down there. He'd also much rather not be caught up in Hulk's rampage. Super Soldier or not, Hulks gonna Hulk and that's gonna hurt - best stay clear of that.

Down a hallway, close quarters now. He swings his rifle back around to free his hands. From the opposite end of that hallway, someone pops a shot in his direction. It bounces neatly of his left arm. All that manages to do is call ever so slightly to the Winter storm that's never far from the surface.

With a slight growl, he takes off down the hallway, barreling straight at the two HYDRA goons at the end.

If they're not pissing their pants, they probably should be. He makes it, but not before he takes a graze to the side and one bullet whizzes past his right ear - a little too close for comfort. At least Kenesha's pretty safe if she stays behind him? In one smooth motion, goon on the right takes it to the head with hand of his prosthetic arm and he follows up with his right on the other side, it a blink they're both down. One with a bashed in skull, the other clutching a fatal knife wound to his gut.

And on he goes. One more short turn and he's found the stairs.

Rick's call for assistance pulls him back a little from a complete murderous rampage.

<<On my way toward the stairs on the North side, where are you?>>

Bucky pauses, rifle at the ready again, waiting for a reply and get his bearings.

Nick Fury has posed:
The sensors and monitors on the helicarrier that hovers overhead continue their *beep*, feeding areas, coordinates, energy surges and the like. All of that is fed down by the different communication officers that are part and parcel of this... operation.

Payback is a bitch.

Director Fury stands in the middle of his Ops, hands behind his back, looking straight out into that middle distance, listening to everything. The voices on com, the feedback... everything.

Bruce Banner has posed:
Hulk finds himself briefly wrapped in massive mechanical tentacles, some sort of burrowing device being used as a last ditch defense from one of the more AIM-affiliated clusters of the building. Hulk finally gets free and breaks one off, using it to lash at other things like a great big green Indiana Jones.

He takes heavy fire from a squad of soldiers with high-intensity rifles, raw plasma strong enough to actual scald his green hide. It hurts and Hulk wasn't used to hurting. The hurt made him angrier.

The anger made him STRONGER.

There's a shockwave from one section as he blasts his fists down into the ground beneath him, splitting through a few areas at once with raucous power as he lets out a rageful howl, "HULK SMASH HYDRA!"

Priscilla Kitaen has posed:
She's surprised to find that she's actually having fun, Voodoo is. This is not something that one should find fun.. and yet.. Broad green shoulders shrug, wings flashing out to smack over a pair of hydra goons before she turns and rips them apart. This is definitely fun. How many innocents have died as a result of this organizations assholery? Too many. Far too many. They brought this on themselves.

Voodoo pauses and looks at a wall and then darts down a hallyway, finding the spot behind that wall where an invisible (to most) man was hiding and chanting. "...what an idiot. Get out of here before you get killed." She tells Bob but doesn't order him, honestly she can't be fussed over whether he makes it or not. How can you end up here on accident or be that much of a coward?? Whatever. She's got more goons to slay. Directly or indirectly, it's all good.

Richard Stadler has posed:
Rick was a soldier. That much was true; he learned to turn things off when he needed to turn them off, to take lives that were, in the grand scheme of things, more similiar than dissimilar to his own. But he had some compassion in him, especially when it came to those who shouldn't have been out here in the first place.

This certainly triggered some of that, but it had to go to war with some cold ethical calculus. Even someone in competent could get lucky with the right positioning and shoot you in the back. Rick pauses for a moment when he heard the voice, cocking his head. Maybe invisible, but he knew what a man in a gas mask sounded like, and that wasn't it. From his belt, he withdrew a cylinder, Pulling the pin and popping off the arming handle, tossing it toward the voice as a cloud of CS gas filled the corridor they were in.

<<Moving toward the west; whatever they've got here has bound to have a large power draw. Emergency systems are only going to go so far. Wear a mask, if you can; I've got some... fumigation in progress.>>

A pause. <<Tear gas. I should clarify. Just because their Nazi's doesn't make this Osowiec.>>

Kenesha has posed:
"Go on, I'll meet you guys deeper in. Last one to the top buys the drinks after," Kenesha tilts her head in the direction of Rick and changes out the clip on her AR before parting company from the Winter Soldier to continue up the stairs and deeper into the complex! Content to shoot down HYDRA troops until she can come up against something.. bigger.

The teleportation comes in handy, too, allowing her to get in close when there's only a couple of them, using hand-to-hand tactics to drop the agents. She collects a disruptor along the way that gets tucked into the satchel for later examination. If she can, she'll have to try to get one of those 'disintegration rays' too.

Any Dreadnoughts that she comes across are dealt with through the plasma grenades, though eventually, they will weaken the structur of the building inside the mountain. It could cause a collapse.. sooner or later!

Clea has posed:
Humans fighting Clea is really not fair. The Faltine knows this. She is trying to keep a handle on her emotions given if those get away from her she has the chance to just go into meltdown. Which would be bad.

She dives into the next group of hydra agents. While she doesn't like the use of physical violence, she has spent a lot of time practicing how to perform it. She fights with her fists and her magic, ripping a way through the masses that were powering up to fight the rest.

Natasha Romanoff has posed:
Is it justice? Perhaps. Hydra certainly has committed the crime. Revenge? Also very likely. They've done twisted, evil things. Vengeance? An eye for an eye. Each head they grow back, slice off anew. Pain and suffering shall be paid back. Violence and hate met with a brutal body slam.

Bucky and Kenesha make for quite a team, even as they go to backup Rick, leaving explosions and dead weapons of mass-could-have-been in their wake. Weeks and months of manufacturing effort, mindboggling amount sof resources.. Now gone up to the scrapheap up in the sky. The two move and leave bodies and nothingness in their wake. This is about brutality - and efficiency as they go to back up their consultant comrade.

Hydra is made up of slow learners. It makes them easier fanatics. Monsters. Abominations. But it also meanst hey can't grasp the obvious. They can't change thier minds. When shooting the Hulk with every weapon in their arsenal does nothing, just makes him angrier..

They keep on shooting. And the madder Hulk gets.. Hydra's personnel will be taught a short, sharp, and obvious lesson.

They won't like Hulk when he's angry.

And he's very, very angry. And smashing everything and everyone in his wake.

Voodoo has goons to slay and handle. These individuals are scum. Freaks. That seek slavery and genocide upon others. In evil for the sake of evil. Slaughter for the revelry in it. Power purely to abuse. Weapons used purely for darkness. That want to slay andinflict fear. They fall too easily - but they deserve it. It's also a reminder that there are monsters. And sometimes monsters deserve to get the same.

Hydra Bob's cowardice was to levels that it was virtually a superpower of itself. A testament to how the man had survived in ways where dozens and hundreds of other hapless evil agents had fallen. Instincts of self-preservation so strong that they kept him alive - but also kept him in the super evil organization. But also alive. Deserving of sympathy? Mayyybeee.

Bypassing Bob, and hearing wails of 'OW MY BALLS' as coughing would fill the air and a WHAM of someone hitting something far too sensitive in a heavy way of where a sensitive area should never be hit..

Rick has a clear line into the power generators now. They're massive. Three story high giant glowing green generators powered with the closest human technology can to the heart of a sun, an ongoing fission reaction. No wonder Hydra could keep on making seemingly endless numbers of such dangerous, terrifying toys.

Clea's magic sends everyone in her way flying away, blasted to the sides. Weapons completely useless on her, nothing of any sort seeming to even register as she rends them senseless. Perhpas, for the femme faltine, using her fists is therapuetic.

Nick Fury has posed:
Where one HYDRA head is cut off, they say two grow back. As far as Director Fury is concerned? It becomes a target rich environment, and go cut off two more heads. It's as easy as that.

Vengeance? Eye for an eye? It could be that, or it could be something that resembles 'fighting for what's right'. Though, in the Director's storied past, his 'what's right' isn't always evident to others. So, some either need to take it on faith, or keep moving; he doesn't have time to explain his thoughts, and reasons.

There are always reasons.

"Come on, people. You're just playin' with them now," is called down to coms. "This isn't all fun and games."

James Barnes has posed:
<<Heading your way now.>> Bucky turns the coarse and backtracks through the area they just came through. He's sure to stick to the walls, hugging them almost, because Hulk gonna smash. ...and he's not really in the mood to accidentally get smashed.

Knowing Rick's waiting for back-up for the 'Big Moment', Bucky puts a rush on things. Rather than taking time to aim and fire, he just plows through whatever comes at him with a combination of that deadly left hand and the big ass knife in his right.

Of course he's been wearing a mask the entire time, perhaps not the proper mask, but a mask nonetheless. It doesn't take him long, or much searching, to meet up with Rick. A simple nod that's both a greeting and a slight tilt of his head toward where they need to be is all that's offered. The nod in greeting and the tilt to warn that he's heading in first. He's not the chatty type. Anything still standing, moving toward a weapon, holding a weapon or otherwise posing a threat won't be a threat for long. He makes every shot count. Now the path is extra clear.

Whoa, that's going to be a massive *boom* if they blow those things. "Left?" He's offering to charge up the left side if that wasn't clear.

<<Might want to make sure you're at least /near/ an exit.>> Bucky warns over the coms. Just in case his little excursion with Rick starts the entire place crumbling down around them.

Richard Stadler has posed:
Rick pauses, for a moment, looking up at the... frankly massive power generation systems, rifle in hand, before Bucky moves in behind him. This would be... a bit of a difficult one, certainly, but... well, power generation plants, despite how complex and high tech they might be, certainly had to get that power to different places. And there would be the weak spot. He reaches into a bag hanging off the side of his load-bearing gear, pulling out two charges of plastique, already set up, and handing them off to Barnes. "Wilco. I'll take right. Wiring will lead to a power junction. Set the charges there." He says, before picking up his own battle rifle again, swiftly moving to the right hand side and engaging the targets who might have gotten a bit wise to what they were doing. Certainly they'd have time to clear the area before detonating the explosives.

Certainly.

Priscilla Kitaen has posed:
For once, Voodoo doesn't feel like the biggest monster around. As much as she might hate herself, she's a good person at her core. These people are not. They are so far from good the light of good would take a billion years to reach them and even then it'd miss. She won't feel bad about reveling in this battle. It will be a pleasant change of pace.

Focusing only on the next target, the next kill, Voodoo is able to push the growing awareness of the dead out of her mind. Whenever she spots a lingering spirit so recently torn violently from it's mooring, she ignores it. She can't deal with this latest manifestation of her powers. Hearing Fury's voice on the comms, Voodoo cringes. Oops. He's right. She'd managed to forget the Boss was overseeing them. Probably because it made her nervous and she's good at pushing aside things that freak her out. Voodoo cloaks herself again and starts searching for someone that looks like they are in charge. When she finds a likely suspect she battles for control of his mind, wresting it free and overriding his will to make him do her bidding. He'll go and start using one of those massive weapons against his own troops. Then she makes her way towards the nearest exit after hearing the suggestion. Just as she's about to blow through, the alien hybrid is hit by a piece of shrapnel. She manages to get outside and fly a short distance away before collapsing, one arm dangling, sliced most of the way off. "Fuck my life.." She pants and just rests. That will be most of the weak in healing once she gets it attached right. At least her freakines is useful in this situation. Her alien visage fades away, the carmel skinned dancer now covered in blood and leaking more left in its place.

Clea has posed:
Clea gets dogpiled by a group of armored hydra agents in the middle of the fight. Apparently they think if they pin her under enough bodies that she's stop doing what she doesn't.

At the bottom of the pile there is an IRRITATED Faltine.

"I should have called Victor." she muses to herself. She then reaches her hands up and smacks them into the ground, applying enough force to shake the ground beneath her as she fights her way back out of the dog pile. <<Anyone need help in certain areas?>> she asks over comms as she tosses one of the agents into a wall.

Kenesha has posed:
Kenesha continues a one-woman rampage deeper into the compound, shooting, punching, exploding. She's also found a goal. To get to the mainframe and try to get as much information off it as possible before this place goes into meltdown.

Moving swift, teleporting as it's safe to do so, the AR-15 goes away and a .45 ACP takes its place. Using a combination of close range firearms and hand to hand tactics to break through any defense, saving the grenades for the Drednoughts and heavy artillery that occasionally crop up.

Clea's call has her smiling. <<You're welcome to join me. I'm working my way inside. Gonna grab as much information off the computers and as much tech as I can get my hands on. Thinking about leaving a very big, explodey present behind.>>

Natasha Romanoff has posed:
The boss is telling them to hurry ti up. They've planted explosives by the very, very big generator. On top of the very, very big fuel reserves the base has for use in the vehicles, power armor, and weapons there. And the munitions. The massive, massive amount of munitions and equipment here used to make Hydra's monstrous armory that they use to threaten, conquer, and obliterate all that stands in their way. Their orders in the matter have been fairly clear. As Hulk smashes through things, Clea sends Hydra agents flying, and Priscilla finds a moment of peace within herself.

If Richard's going to be doing the math, this is going to be one $#*# of an explosion. It won't quite be an earth shattering kaboom, but it will be one that Marvin will appreciate, in whatever fantastical dimension that he might peer in from. To Kenesha? For the Kheran warrior-woman, are Nazis a special kind of evil even by the standards of the galaxy? Perhaps. Perhpas not.

But they're here to kick ass and chew bubblegum.

Did they bring enough for the entire class?

James Barnes has posed:
Just another nod, yes he understands. Bucky takes the C-4 and breaks left, looking for the wire junctions Rick suggested. He may not remember it /all/ but he's seen enough of these facilities to have a little bit of a clue - even if those clues all came in horrific flashbacks.

Bucky's quick and efficient in setting the charges, the same way that he is in everything he does. He stands back a bit to inspect his handiwork before announcing, <<Left side charges set.>> over the comms. It's for Rick's benefit mostly, but also another warning to the others.

To Rick directly, he calls out, "What's the range on the detonator?" Can they get clear? Or more to the point, can /Bucky/ get clear. He's a little less blow-up-able than Rick. With him, it'll hurt but it'll heal. With Rick, the hurting might just be over too quickly with nothingness to follow?

Nick Fury has posed:
"If you can't get the time to blow it up, I'm sure we'll find some way to accomplish that task. Grab what you can, get that information, and we'll deal."

Fury's been listening in, and as if to underscore his message, he glances towards the clock that hangs, ticking away the minutes and seconds. The longer his team is down there, the more that can go wrong if a mistake or mis-step is taken. And contrary to popular belief, the Director really doesn't like losing people, and will avoid it whenever possible.

Not to mention, this is not a 'deny all knowledge' mission.

Clea has posed:
Clea listens to the radio chatter and there is a nod of her head, <<On the way.>> she tells Kenesha. The Faltine zips past more incoming agents, heading towards where everyone seems to be setting explosives.

<<Team, I'm going to open portals back to the carrier before the explosions. Please get through them when prompted. For your own safety.>> the Avenger tells the other.

<<Director, I'll make sure our people are clear.>> she states to Fury over the comms as she finds where Kenesha is and she helps to block off more incoming hydra agents.

Priscilla Kitaen has posed:
Somewhere closer to the Helicarrier than not, Priscilla manages to sit up and watch for the others in between sessions of.. passing out a bit. She's managed to hold her arm in place enough that as long as she doesn't jar it, it will continue to heal. All the bits inside are gonna take a few days but at least it's not dangling most of the way free now. Eventually she hears enough from the comms to decide it's a good idea to get back on the SHIELD craft. It is really different to fly inside of it than she'd expected.. vastly different from flying herself.. and she is more than a little woozy. 'Pay attention Pris. Get back on there.' She collapses again once inside, in a place out of the way. She slips in and out of awareness until she finally crashes and falls into a deep, healing sleep despite trying to remain awake.

Kenesha has posed:
Kenesha gives a nod to Fury's words. <<On it. Just made the mainframe, linking in now. ETA 2 minutes, maybe 3 if they have any decent security.>> She isn't counting on it.

"Hey. Just help keep them off me while I pull this information real quick. I can teleport, don't worry about getting me out. Bucky and Rick are at the generators. Hulk is.. level three, still smashing. Got an agent.. don't know her name, she's.. looks like ground level, hurt but still standing." Kenesha flashes a quick grin to Clea as she taps into the mainframe and kicks down the firewall (virtually speaking) to start downloading as much information as she can grab.

While that program is running, she plants some nasty-looking explosives around the room to go off with the charges planted by Bucky and Rick and help bring down the compound. She checks on the download.

<<Thirty seconds and we're out! Everyone grab your kit and jump in the portal when it opens!>>

Richard Stadler has posed:
Barnes clearly had missed the very best part about the equation for Rick with explosives; if he made a mistake, it certainly wasn't going to be his problem any more. Nevertheless, there was an optimal path forward here that involved being home in 12 hours and asleep, and Rick was well aware of it. "ULF, encoded! Slow transmit speed, but should go through most of this rock-" He says, interrupted with a round slamming to the left of him; Rick responded with a few rounds from the side arm at his thigh; it kept one hand free for attaching the charges he had with him on those power junctions he had mentioned previously. <<Right set. Exfilling now.>> Well. Portals were certainly better than walking back to the quinjet.

Rick brought his rifle up, but there was enough chaos that he didn't have to fire it. He brings up his hand to Barnes, a clear sign that he's looking for him to take point on their way to Clea's fancy way out, while he cover's the rear approach.

Natasha Romanoff has posed:
There are still many, many Hydra troopers in the place, and they're still massively outnumbered. Hydra morale does nto crack, and they'll just keep on swarming the heroes. The thing is you want to make the valiant, yet hopeless last stand that of the ENEMY'S, not your own, to paraphrase the tactical knowledge of General George S. Patton.
So when Fury says to get out of dodge while they bring the heat, he means it. Portals go to pop up from Clea as rounds of explosives are ready and last bits of information are gathered, even as Hydra troopers ready for counterattack. No matter how many go down, there always seem to be more.
And now they're at that moment. Where they (and the boss) are at the 'push the giant button'. And for Hydra to feel the wrath of an angry god falling upon them.

Marc Slayton has posed:
Having been backup for most of the encounter, Marc Slayton stays in his spot, waiting to assist where he can. It was a tough mission, one which he would remember.

Nick Fury has posed:
Fury's got the scanners running on board ship, and as they read that there are souls arriving, at the proper count, there are a few heads that turn in his direction, waiting for that next command. That one that they all know is coming.

"Hover, low power. Direct energy to the forward guns."

"Yes sir," comes the snapped response. "Forward guns primed."

Nick takes a look at the rumbling mass, the smaller explosions fading away as HYDRA is making their way back to sensitive locations within the outpost. It's not going to help them. Not this time.

"At my order." Nick is staring straight forward, into that middle distance again. The helicarrier is buzzing with the power; if one was to give it human emotions, it would be 'anticipation'.

"Now." The order is barked, and at the cue, the Ops deck goes into full battle mode. It's a remarkable amount of power, mega-tons. Nuclear might have done less damage when all is said and done.

The explosion below is ... remarkable. As the area explodes, dirt and debris are thrown into the air, dimming the light of the sun for just a second. The rumble permeates the ground, the sound heard at their elevation. Their shot ran deep, and with all those minor explosives set?

HYDRA didn't stand a chance. Not this time.

Finally, all goes into silence, and the Director speaks once more.

"Let's go home. These people deserve it."
