Gotham Cable Under Attack - 12 August 2022
Gotham Cablevision Studios and their streaming service have come under fire recently. Last year saw Theme of the Crime become a runaway hit. It was touted as the 'Breaking Bad' of theme criminals, given credence by casting Thomas Blake -the former Catman to play himself. Blake turned out to be a decent actor, possessing great charisma and was an instant hit with viewers. The show benefited fom the considerable talent of Nick Drago as the bizarre Music Master who was alternately sinister, sympathetic and humorous (the scene of MM reviewing his gallery of ruined hats and swearing revenge was brilliant.) The producers performed creative stunt casting, chiefly Simon Trent as Commissioner Gillespie, and Simon (Wonderman) Trent as Woe.
The show came under attack by the Gotham Morality Organization for lauding theme criminals (a debatable topic). This resulted in a hasty halt in production and a supposed retooling of scripts to embrace a new approach.
The studios were broken into last week and the exact purpose remained undisclosed by the studio. The GCPD questioned staff and cast and sought Thomas Blake for arrest. Catman remained out of Gotham, though Happy Harbor police did detain him for questioning.
It was learned that the investigation and charges were dropped by the studio, however Blake was let go, both as cast and as an executive producer.
Last night the studio's woes continued as the original scripts and the retooled ones were released to the internet. The response to the retooled scripts was beyond negative. It was vitriolic. It was also learned that Nick Drago walked out in sympathy with Blake -depriving the show of its two main draws. Gotham Cable has suspended production for the series.
