A professional scholar of the arcane and adventurer, Roland was born ready to take on the world. When his family was destroyed by an ancient evil the young man was forced to handle things on his own. Now, he works to rebuild the knowledge his family once collected.

Timeline

Timeline:
1999: Roland was the third of what would be Jonathon and Nancy Livingston's four children.

2005: Given extensive private tutoring growing up, Roland was educated in everything from history to martial arts and sword fighting to arcane knowledge. He had a healthy relationship with numerous siblings and cousins around his age.

2009: Roland began to realize why his family isolated themselves at their castle outside of London. His physical prowess already began to exceed that of some of the grown men who worked for his family and he learned that it must be kept secret. He also learned the true family history.
Centuries ago one of his ancestors, Sir Roland Livingston the First met an entity who traveled across the stars. This entity, called the Guide, was sent to study Earth's magic. Not having a body of its own, the Guide shared Sir Roland's. In exchange he tampered with Sir Roland's DNA, making him stronger, faster and tougher than he already was as an elite warrior. These attributes were further enhanced in each generation following Sir Roland's. Additionally, they began to live longer as well. Young Roland's great great grandfather, the current holder of the Guide, was over a hundred years old but appeared to be in his forties, for instance.

2014: Roland was introduced to the family business, collecting mystical knowledge and artifacts from around the globe to aid its study of Earth's supernatural forces.

2019: Roland is sent on a mission by the Guide to retrieve an ancient tome from a crypt outside of Jerusalem. When he returns from his mission Roland discovers the Guide has been recalled back to its home. Unfortunately, the mystical protection it offered the Livingston family goes with it.

2020: While Roland is off hunting a necromancer the Livingston castle is attacked by their ancient enemy: Gebhard the Undying, a powerful vampire sorcerer. When Roland returns his family's magical collection has been stolen, the castle has been razed and everyone he's ever loved was murdered.

2021: Roland, now the sole Livingston left, moves to Manhattan to try to pick up where his family left off, studying magic and collecting magical artifacts while neutralizing supernatural threats.

Confident:
Roland possesses superhuman physical abilities and the best education money can buy. As such there's nothing he's not capable of dealing with. Or at least he thinks so.

Kind:
Not necessarily nice, Roland is still capable of great acts of caring. He's generally a good natured person and will go out of his way to help others.

Powers

Agility:
Dexterous almost beyond belief, Roland can move with incredibly great ease in almost any situation. His athletic prowess surpasses that of Olympic gymnasts. Additionally, his reaction speed is superhuman, allowing him to move before unpowered individuals can act.

Endurance:
Untiring and physically extremely tough, it's quite difficult to exhaust Roland's reserves of stamina. He can run for hours before running out of energy, swim for miles (he's swum the English channel for fun), and stay up for days before having to sleep.

Longevity:
Roland is destined to age more slowly than other humans now that he's reached adulthood. By the time he's sixty he'll still appear to be in his early thirties.

Strength:
The world's greatest powerlifters pale in comparison to Roland, who is nearly fifty percent stronger than the most powerful unpowered human. He can lift a car off of its front or rear tires or pull a loaded truck. He can overpower professional grapplers and can run faster than any unaugmented man alive.

Combat:
A very talented martial artist who's been training since childhood, Roland is a force to be reckoned with. He's capable of engaging and defeating multiple trained assailants at the same time with or without a weapon in his hands. With a longsword there are few people around who can hope to match his skills and with a bow he could qualify for the Olympics. He's even recently taken up mastering the use of firearms and is an expert marksman with those he's had a chance to study.

Education:
Roland's extensive education has prepared him for much. He's received tutoring in everything from advanced mathematics and accounting to fluency in half a dozen languages, Latin, Hebrew, Aramaic, French, English (his native tongue) and Arabic.

Penthouse:
A fancy penthouse in Manhattan that's valued at over a million dollars.

Wealth:
Having inherited his family's resources upon their deaths, Roland is quite well off. Though it's not all liquid his worth is in the tens of millions of British pounds.

Weaknesses

Alone:
Roland's entire family is dead. Even their alien mentor is gone. He has no close friends or allies to speak of.

Ancient Enemy:
Gebhard the Undying is a powerful vampire sorcerer who wants to exterminate the Livingston family. He's nearly succeeded at it as well, with Roland being the only survivor of his wrath. Gebhard possesses magical implements collected over centuries by the Livingston family and has an army of lesser vampires, human familiars and even some more unusual supernatural entities at his beck and call.

Overconfident:
Roland's a superhumanly powerful scholar and adventurer. There's nothing he can't overcome if he sets his mind to it. Hopefully.

Privileged:
Anything he's ever wanted, Roland has been able to get his hands on when he's in civilization. If he's denied these things, such as if he loses access to his money, he'll be at a loss. He's never had to survive in a society on his own. Ironically, he's much better suited for being in the wilderness with nothing than he is in a city.
