Illyana Rasputina is a Russian mutant, demonstrating immense proclivity towards the mystic arts. She was kidnapped as a child and taken to the hellish dimension of Limbo where she grew up learning the dark arts while her soul was tainted with black magic. In time she overthrew Limbo's demonic ruler to become Demon Queen of Limbo. On Earth, she became the New Mutant codenamed Magik, and began the quest to restore her soul.

Adaptable:
Illyana's streak of independence is coupled with a Russian fatalism that can endure bitter winters, starvation, and every horrific thing nature and government throw at her. She will get through, and she will figure out a way to do it on her own. She rejected the collar imposed by Belasco, everything else is a comparative walk in the park. Illyana is a true survivor, capable of doing whatever it takes to carry on to tomorrow. Throw her in the worst environment imaginable, she'll manage to come through somehow. Her flexibility in thinking and actions has saved her life many times, many ways. Belasco broke her to make her like quicksilver, responding with whatever she had at hand. She's a mental MacGuyver, able to cobble together solutions from nothing.

Creative:
The art of magic is founded on changing the world according to the vision or image held in the mind's eye. Or, simpler: make it be. This requires curiosity and unbridled creativity. It's a fundamental aspect of her who she is. Being adaptable and flexible to scenarios as they come releases her to act, rather than be paralyzed by indecision. Her creative side pushes her relentlessly. Her education and experiences honed her immense imaginative gifts in unusual directions, refined further by some of the finest mystic tutelage available. Present her with a situation and she observes patterns from unexpected angles. She constantly seeks to step outside her own boundaries and explore the unknown. When her power is literally built on dynamism, this is the most fundamental expression of her personality: change, growth, and transformation.

Independent:
She knows who she is, what she wants, and how to get it. Anyone standing between her and that is going to have a hell of a hard time. You can also call this 'tough as nails and stubborn as a mule.' Illyana retained her identity through harrowing, dark times. She preserved a spark of herself against towering odds. Pulling herself back from near death, defying her 'master,' and overthrowing him in a coup with fanatical demons at her back practically worshipping her evil side requires a very certain sense of self. She claimed the throne of Limbo under horrible circumstances, so standing on her own feet and calling the shots is second nature. That's not to say she cannot work with others or she is blind to her own faults. She can. With few illusions about what and who she is, she treasures the ability to choose for herself. Even when those decisions are bitterly difficult, she stands by them. Not the type to follow blindly, she applies a healthy dose of self-reflection and analysis to a situation before acting - most of the time.

Ruthless:
The dark side of Illyana's personality isn't just a byproduct of her Russian background. Torture leaves scars on people and much of her time in Limbo involved psychological torment. To survive, she had to refine the broken pieces of her childish psyche into an adamantine will, but that meant sacrificing innocence and her softer side along the way. Illyana pursues goals with an unwavering commitment, beneficial when you want someone who will go the extra mile or ten. She might stop at nothing to achieve that goal, reckoning the ends justify whatever means are necessary. That may include pain or murder - and in her eyes, demons or their parallels might just be deserving of that treatment. She absolutely must keep herself in check through raw willpower rather than falling into a vengeful cycle. The upside is she yearns for her soul intact, and most over, peace. Harmony. The kinds of things attained so easily by the brightest in their world, like Doctor Strange. She is driven to find the levers to escape Belasco's long shadow, overcoming the damage done to her that she can't heal for all her power. Illyana doesn't know how to cope long-term with humanity slipping away, the callous ravages of time and fighting, even on the side of good. It has a cost. The antidote is found among those she trusts most, those who ground her and give her reason to carry on.

Willful:
Illyana holds to her values with incredible ferocity. She knows the cost of losing herself all too well. Three pieces of her soul have been tainted, leaving only two pure. This darkness urges her to do bad things. It makes her care less about others and more about herself. Her corruption makes her want to cross that line, falling into the shadows. Better to rule from below than be subjected to another's yoke from above, she figures, and that seductive call isn't always obvious or clear. Illyana has plenty of experience resisting the darkness of her nature, especially obvious threats. Only those she cares about and her own willpower have kept her on the straight and narrow, although once in a while she will stray from that path and need to be brought back.

Adamant Will:
Magic is purely a matter of belief and enforcing one's will on reality to shape it. Illyana has an enormous wellspring of discipline and resolve to call upon, shutting out distractions to perform intricate spells in the midst of combat. Her mental endurance far and away exceeds what her age would credit her with. Her deeply-rooted purpose gave her the strength to survive in Limbo and ultimately throw down Belasco. It's the backstop preventing her cataclysmic fall into an infernal gateway for the Elder Gods. She resists the temptations of her dark side, and everything arrayed against her, every minute she draws breath.

Darkchilde:
Her partially demonic soul may fully manifest, particularly when Illyana loses control of herself. Thus, she resists this transformation unless utterly necessary. She acquires demonic traits, such as horns, razor-sharp fangs and claws, a prehensile tail, and digitigrade legs ending in vicious cloven hooves. The Darkchilde form is immune to natural and supernatural heat, fire, and firearms; it has durability, strength, and agility far exceeding human limits. She can lift several tons easily, with a greater strength while in Limbo. The Darkchilde form is clearly infernal and tends to terrorize civilians. While channeling her darker side, Illyana is more prone to violence and passionate, impulsive behaviours that put her at risk of further corrupting her soul.

Eldritch Armor:
Much like her brother, Illyana can manifest protective armour that resembles the gleaming organic steel he transforms into. Unlike him, her Eldritch Armour takes wildly different forms and styles according to her whim. It manifests with the Soulsword, typically forming a pauldron over her sword arm or a forked headband able to offer total protection in an instant. With a thought, the armour can cover her body or form specific pieces according to her need.

It protects her against mundane and supernatural weapons, turning aside deadly blades and explosive impacts. Little penetrates its surface. Most energy blasts dissipate harmlessly after striking her. Armour, however, is still armour. It does not offer as much protection from falling or crushing damage; enough force will break bones or knock her out. Neither is the armour seamless, so precision strikes bypassing protected areas can hurt her.

Enhanced:
Illyana gained special abilities when she forged the Soulsword and further supernatural gifts after becoming Queen of Limbo. She can lift up to 500 kg. unassisted and gains considerable durability, reflexes, and stamina. However, she is not immune to being injured normally unless she is armoured or protected by her spells. Due to living in a hell dimension, she developed an extreme pain tolerance and resilience to shock. Her body heals at a normal mortal rate, but in Limbo, she has a greatly accelerated healing rate. Crippling injuries repair in hours, and moderate damage heals in minutes. If she manipulates reality, she could conceivably repair genetic damage, regrow limbs or save someone's life.

Pain Tolerance:
Demons and immortal sorcerers tortured Illyana throughout her childhood. She faced hideous injuries and her fragments of her soul being ripped from her body in Limbo. As a New Mutant, she faced psychological and physical torments, including her own agonizing death that she eventually came back from. She ignores its lesser permutations and shoves back on the major incarnations. She can function and push through levels of pain that put others in the fetal position, ignoring the debilitating effects. Pain gets her attention only when she is on the brink of unconsciousness or death.

Psionic Shielding:
Exposure to dark magic and Limbo's own peculiar properties left Illyana's mind deeply resistant to any kind of manipulation. Charles Xavier could barely read her thoughts with her cooperation as a child. The situation has only intensified with an intensely private nature. Her shielding resists psychics on par with David Haller, Jean Grey, and Emma Frost. In short, if she refuses to drop her guard, they won't get in or sense or psionically. This might be deeply disturbing to telepaths.

Sight:
Illyana detects the flowing pulse of magic around her subconsciously. This is now a reflexive function of her perception, like seeing specific colours. Magical beings and objects have a unique signature, an aura that stands out to her based on their magnitude of power. Active spells burn an impression on her, and by studying the auras of a spell, place or being, she can conceivably learn a great deal about its mystic composition. Sensing magic takes more effort to shut out, making it possible a large working or sudden magical burst can temporarily stun her on Earth.

Sorcery:
Illyana is among the greatest human sorcerers, the Sorcerer Supreme of Limbo and unequaled within the dimension. If Earth's title became vacant, she is a prime candidate in her own right to serve the role, and the Vishanti know it. Her aged mentor served Oshtur and the goddess stands opposed to the dark Elder Gods trying to break into the world through Illyana herself.

Illyana's mastery over the Mystic Arts is exceptional. She uses classical forms and techniques to control, shape, and manipulate the elements and raw magical force; fashion shields and wards; evoke and banish spirits; weave illusions; transform the properties of items; create and shape objects; heal or damage; bestow blessings or curses; manipulate thoughts and dreams; temporarily alter the shape or appearance of living things. She detects magic and mystical presences with her innate Sight, but she can greatly amplify her range by concentrating on the flows of power around her. She uses ritual magic to achieve greater or lasting spells, and works in conjunction with other practitioners of the mystic arts to achieve blended or enhanced effects. Her profound expertise spans a wide sweep of traditions and techniques.

However, Illyana is specialized in the darkest and most forbidden forms of magic. She extensively studied channeling and dimensional magic, particularly identifying, binding, and controlling extraplanar entities. This comes naturally and easily, which is why she avoids it. Her lengthy training in 'white magic,' those with most benevolent effects, is equally broad but difficult due to her corrupted soul. These spells take extra effort, either by time, components or lengthy modifications to turn out correctly. She works with other master spellcasters in classical traditions to improve this limitation, since she prefers to use spells rooted in white traditions.

Soulsword:
Illyana fashioned a weapon from a portion of her uncorrupted soul, the Soulsword, one of the most powerful and devastating magical artifacts known. It serves as an embodiment of her sorcerous power and a focus for spells, her authority over Limbo and a reminder of the purity she seeks. Its shape is vastly mutable, though typically a sabre or greatsword, though it even takes on staff form if needed. She can draw it from nothing or summon it by stepping disk, and it answers her call at need.

The Soulsword has a horrific effect against magic, shattering ritual spells or incantations it touches, unraveling illusions, and laying low through magical beings. Few supernatural entities can withstand the Soulsword, including even Cyttorak when she wielded it in Limbo. It works less spectacularly against mundane objects, but manifested as a radiant, burning sword fueled by mystic power, it can slice deep into reinforced metal, dismember Sentinels, and deflect projectiles or bullets.

The Soulsword cannot usually cut regular, non-magical beings. The blade simply passes through them, a singularly agony-inducing experience. Illyana must actively intend to harm a mundane being with the Soulsword to injure them this way, and it risks her soul. (See +weaknesses)

Teleportation:
Limbo connects to all places and all times, thus existing everywhere and always. Temporal and spatial rules apply differently there. Unpredictable portals connected to Limbo can appear anywhere, linked to different locations and times. Illyana's mutation controls these portals, manifesting a "stepping disk" with a specific destination linked to any place or time, regardless of distance, as she desires.

Her stepping disks appear as she thinks of them, allowing for combat permutations like vanishing bullets, redirecting attacks or teleporting targets to safety. She uses the portals to create freefall windows or imprison her enemies in Limbo to deal with later, a favourite tactic.

Among the most powerful teleporters encountered, Illyana can transport herself or her targets to any destination with pinpoint accuracy. She can move many people over up to interstellar distances, and need not accompany targets when transporting them to a destination or conjuring them to herself.

Combat:
The vast majority of her life, Illyana has fought. Starting as a child in Limbo, she learned to use whatever weapons were at hand just to survive. Ruthless lessons orchestrated by demonic legions, empowered allies and slaves under Belasco progressed from needling injuries to all-out assassination attempts. With creative use of her enhanced strength, stepping disks, and magic, she can deal with physically superior opponents and numbers with frightening damage output.

A decade of constant violence has made her a veteran combatant. She utilizes a broad mix of techniques and styles, adapting to her environment. Formal training with the X-Men and New Mutants refined her fighting prowess, especially using dirty tactics or choreographed attacks paired with her teammates. Striking hard and relentless, she rarely withheld her blows.

Where Illyana shines is with martial arms. A deadly, skillful duelist with blades and edged weapons, she is unparalleled wielding in her swordfighting techniques honed on countless demons. By strength of arms, she overthrew Belasco (a Hell-Lord with innumerable years of experience). With the Soulsword in her hands, she is a lethal threat.

Computers:
In no sense is Illyana an expert at computers, but the digital world is merely another nexus of knowledge, power, and freedom at her fingertips. Relentless in her studies, she's a competent user of street-level technology available to her and has made forays into programming, system security, and data manipulation. It would horrify most to know it serves as a primary investigation tool. She excels in finding information through focused research online and dipping into online communities where savvy mystic practitioners work. No, she is not anywhere near the calibre of a Russian hacker.

Languages:
Illyana speaks Russian and English with complete fluency. Her long apprenticeship exposed her to most languages used in the mystic arts, notably ancient Greek, Latin, Sanskrit, Hebrew, Tibetan, and countless obscure tongues of other dimensions. She needs them to read the tomes and interact with summoned beings, after all. As the Queen of Limbo, she is fluent in infernal tongues used by demons.

Leadership:
Illyana's decisive nature makes her an excellent leader of demonic hordes or various mutant teams. Keeping her head under pressure, she successfully directs others, takes initiative, and executes strategies with a clear purpose. Inspiring fear and awe in her sworn subjects in Limbo is a direct method of applying control, though she still has quite a bit to learn about inspiring others through a force of vision -- and she's still working on that, with help from her teammates. She nonetheless has direct, first-hand experience guiding students and teammates alike into the fight and out of it again. Her grasp of strategy is tremendous, but her experience with logistics and military strategy originates from Limbo. The X-Men bring a terrestrial outlook that she continually uses to refine her knowledge.

Meditation:
The dichotomy of her nature between pure soul and demonic corruption puts her constantly on edge. To control her impulses, Illyana studies meditation heavily. She doesn't favour a particular style, employing Buddhist or Dhyana as much as focused or mindfulness-based practices. Using both methods enables her to attain a degree of detachment and clearing her mind of unwanted emotional influences, giving necessary stability to function in high-stress environments. The clarity brought by disassociation helps her to focus her powers and crystallize her will.

Occult Lore:
Illyana spent her tenure in Limbo instructed on the occult by Belasco, an unrivaled black magician and millennia-old Hell Lord. She absorbed his lessons and surpassed even his skill, drinking up everything she could on demonology, cosmology, and the Mystic Arts. In matters of the black or forbidden arts, she is an unrivaled source, sought by others -- and rarely sharing. The alternate dimension version of a master sorceress taught her white magic, refining her knowledge despite the limitations brought by Illyana's corrupted soul. Thus, her knowledge extends into practical and theoretical areas known by few. She is exceptionally learned about the mystical arts, creating and banishing spells; demons and otherworldly entities; spirits and realms; relics and mystical artifacts. In the thin margins of her ignorance, the only thing standing in her way of finding an answer is time.

Piloting:
Illyana can pilot aircraft, thanks to traditional study and completely cheating by using her magic.

Survival:
Limbo's psychotropic environment alone would test the wits of the hardiest person, let alone a child. Add a landscape out to kill, and teeming infernal hordes out to physically and psychologically torture her. Illyana learned how to scrape through unimaginable predicaments with nothing more than the shirt on her back and sheer audacity. Trials in wildly different environmental extremes have taught her to endure being dumped just about anywhere, at least until her allies show up or she can get home. Her allies in Limbo taught her how to survive, acquiring shelter and food, and the training among the X-Men has only improved this. It's not just for show: her stepping disks open a risk of unknown landscapes or times facing her.

Bloodstones:
She possesses a secondary Bloodstone Amulet identical to the one housing her soul, crafted while in Limbo. If and when Illyana recovers the bloodstone fragments of her soul, she has a prepared vessel to place them in. It should allow her to reabsorb the fragments on contact and heal the wounds done by Belasco. Maybe.

Demons:
Illyana controls the demonic legions in their innumerable quantity in Limbo. They owe her their terrifying, almost slavish devotion. Her mutation gives her an infallible link to the dimension, and she can discern the exact whereabouts of any demon and summon it through her stepping disks. There is no maximum on many demons she can summon, and they tend to be extremely loyal to her. She need not be in Limbo to detect any of her subjects.

Most demons fall into three tiers. The first, the vast majority of the populace, are shock troops with average intellect, strength and stamina exceeding an Olympian athlete, and fire immunity. Second tier demons boast supernatural physical attributes, 5 to 10-ton strength, and considerable combat ability of seasoned fighters. Third tier demons boast minimum 10-ton strength, keen intellect, and a suite of supernatural abilities, combat prowess, magic, and unnatural strength or durability fit to put them toe-to-toe with Earth's mightiest heroes. Finally, those demons like S'ym answering directly to her and bound by oaths, sworn contracts, and limits may display a significant grasp on human society along with supernatural abilities and talents. These 'officers' she rarely brings to Earth, trusting them to oversee matters in Limbo in her absence.

Note: Third tier demons will be approved by staff or for specific TPs, with staff and player approval. This ability is not meant to smother player heroism or be the Limbo Army Knife answer to every problem.

Family:
Family means a great deal to a girl displaced in time and space. Illyana's older brother, Piotr, has been her rock since childhood. Rarely is she willing to bother him with her own problems, but he can always count on her to face his struggles. Always. She can reliably call on her partner, Stephen Strange, for advice, support, and a bulwark against her darker nature.

Limbo:
Illyana rules the nightmarish dimension called Limbo, a place most frequently identified as Hell. Countless demons in an endless variety of forms dwell in everchanging, horrific landscapes and awe-inspiring, terrifying cities. Limbo links all places and all times, a power echoed directly in her mutation. She is irrevocably bound to a dimension.

Time acts strangely in Limbo and its passing is markedly different on Earth. Days and years spent in Limbo might be merely minutes on Earth. She has an innate sense for that fluidity and any temporal vagaries.

As the absolute ruler of Limbo, Illyana is called the Queen of Limbo, the Demon Queen, or a host of other epithets. She exercises total control over every aspect of the realm, including its inhabitants. The landscape transforms to her whims. Objects are created or destroyed by a thought. She can face down enormously powerful or dangerous foes on an equal or greater footing, as they learned to their immediate peril. It's a harsh, unnatural place -- and in some ways, home.

New Mutants:
The New Mutants are the second formal team organized by Charles Xavier, and Illyana joined them almost immediately after returning from Limbo. Their members constitute her extended family, and most certainly her friends. Though their viewpoints differ and sometimes their concerns are inexplicable to her, she will always be there for her teammates. Gods help anyone who crosses a New Mutant, because she undoubtedly stands on the other side to even the score.

Occult Items:
Illyana is the Sorcerer Supreme in Limbo, and a candidate for the role in the main Earth dimension. She possesses a vast array of mystical artifacts and items in her care, including an exceptional library on daemonology acquired from Belasco and his black library on all matters magical and mystical. He did not restrain himself only to the forbidden arts, but she inherited a startling number of grimoires and tomes thought lost to history. The library includes various rare and potent ingredients, relics best kept out of general circulation, dimensional maps and rolls of otherworldly entities. These remain largely under intense spell-wards and traps, along with more physical barriers, to prevent anyone from reaching them. The mystic arts tomes and collections of her white sorceress mentor are in her care, along with those objects attained as she pursues furthering her studies.

Illyana doesn't use many of the darkest artifacts in her trove, knowing the cost to her soul. She acts their guardian and custodian in conjunction with her earthly counterpart.

Note: Illyana doesn't just have a magic item for every problem. I'm not interested in overshadowing other PCs or fixing every challenge immediately. Staff and player approval are needed to find or use whatever is in her collection.

Personal Effects:
For a girl with her own personal pocket dimension complete with castle, Illyana cherishes having her own place in the city. That means an unimpressively small apartment with a rooftop garden in Greenwich Village, afforded in part by some of her sorcerous talents and debts turned over to certain notable people who take less than hard currency. Her apartment is warded to Limbo and back out of persistent paranoia, but she treasures the space, her tech gear, her plants, and the small library of books she's never going to find the time to read. She can offer temporary accommodations to her friends or hide from the world without disconnecting entirely there, so that counts for something.

X-Men:
Illyana grew up among the X-Men as a child, thanks to her brother Piotr (codenamed Colossus). After her startling return from Limbo, she joined Xavier's School and associated with the team so often that she eventually joined their roster. She is a concurrent member of the New Mutants. The X-Men can count on her loyalty and help, and theirs in return.

Weaknesses

Belasco:
An ancient Hell Lord sorcerer with tremendous magical power, Belasco ruled Limbo until Illyana rebelled against him. He kidnapped her as a child to use her very soul to summon the Elder Gods into the Earth dimension. A lengthy mystical apprenticeship in the dark arts slowly corrupted her. He orchestrated her fall by taking three fragments of her soul as bloodstones, intending she would serve the Elder Gods while he reaped power and freedom on Earth. Illyana eventually defeated him in a bloody battle and seized rulership of Limbo, leading to Belasco's banishment. His disappointed divine masters expect him to summon them by regaining the three bloodstones and acquiring the last two fragments from her. Ancient, evil gods are unwise to ignore. For her part, Illyana intends to restore her soul and see him destroyed, not necessarily in that order.

Bloodstones:
The reason that Illyana was taken by Belasco was in order to break her soul apart into five pieces, creating Bloodstones that would be placed into an amulet. This would allow him to come to the Earth unhindered. During her time in Limbo, he managed to get three of the Bloodstones drawn from her before he was defeated and cast out of Limbo. This means that three pieces of Illyana's soul are now tainted with dark magic. Only two pieces are still pure. Should she lose all of her soul, she would become entirely demonic. At this time, she has not found a way to restore the Bloodstones to their original state and remove the taint from her soul, despite her vast occult knowledge. She will continue to try.

Family:
Illyana's birth family is a shattered thing. She cares for her parents, but they have not come to terms with her kidnapping or subsequent aging. Her much older brother, Mikhail, has established his own life and loves his sister more like an uncle. Piotr and she share a deep bond, a weakness that could be used to manipulate her. Doctor Strange, her partner, is also someone she would do nearly anything for, and could be pushed into terrible actions by someone threatening him or Piotr.

Limbo:
Illyana's mutation controls "stepping disks" linked directly to the dimension of Limbo. A target teleported from one location to another makes an in-between jaunt through Limbo. The experience of swan-diving through dimensions badly disorients most people, due to the jarring instant of dipping into Hell and spinning out again. Though the transition happens instantaneously, a passenger still might see an infernal horde or horrific wyrm-beast swimming by. Anything blocking Illyana from reaching Limbo similarly prevents her from teleporting.

Lost Years:
Time in Limbo moves differently from Earth. When Illyana was taken, she was seven years old. She spent over a decade in Limbo, during which time she aged naturally. When she managed to escape to Earth, she returned within minutes of her disappearance (albeit an entire continent away). Everyone remembered a seven-year-old girl, but they were faced with a young adult, an angry one at that. It took some convincing but in time it was accepted as to what had happened. Needless to say, this has made for some complications and a need for false documentation since her birth certificate differs from how she looks.

Magic Isn't All:
Illyana learned by hard experience magic cannot be the answer for every problem. Rely too much on any one tool, it becomes a crutch and a vulnerability someone will eventually exploit. She does not use magic -- or her mutation or other gifts, for that matter -- in every circumstance she possibly could. She withholds that power when she thinks others can to step up or she is too dependent upon it. Looking for other alternatives keeps her sharp and responsive. It's a matter of pride, prowess, and survival for her. It also may drive people mad when she refuses to cast the spell that makes enemies fall down, but she will insist her choice strengthens everyone.

Note: This mindset is specifically created with checking some of Illyana's powers and knowledge, with an eye for better collaborative storytelling. Just because she can doesn't mean she should or will.

Soulsword:
The Soulsword, formed of pure soul essence, resembles a sword in most aspects. It nonetheless has a significant drawback: its edges cannot cut a non-magical being like a metal sword in most situations. Its blade passes right through a mundane human, inflicting pain or unconsciousness, but not so much as a scratch. Illyana must decide to actually maim or kill a non-magical being, and that risks bringing out the Darkchilde if she taps into the darker side of her soul.

Tainted:
The balance of Illyana's soul is no philosophical conundrum but a quantifiable equation represented by three manifested gems called bloodstones. These corrupted fragments of her soul, ripped from her by heinous acts, outweigh the two pure portions that remain. Her inner darkness makes her susceptible to wicked acts and misdeeds, at risk of further losing her soul. Anyone with soul-sight can distinguish her fragmented soul, and those with the means can sense a demonic taint around her. Celestial and infernal beings may detect the war within her. Three-fifths of her being tilts towards darkness, countered only by sheer willpower and the remaining virtue guiding her to do good. It speaks to just how pure she really could be, by holding out against the abyssal temptation calling to her constantly. Corruption yearns to spread and the consequences for falling are beyond dire.

Temper:
Darkness riddles Illyana's fragmented soul. The corruption introduced by Belasco magnifies her dark passions far more than a normal, well-adjusted girl would have. No sins are so dangerous to her as wrath or pride, usually appearing in tandem, since her tainted soul and mastery in blackest of forbidden magic resonate with her rage. The very world warps in proximity to her, staining the air with choking anticipation, darkening shadows that twist and cavort, her body shifting in subtle or overtly terrifying ways. Even fearless hearts can lose courage facing her, a reminder of elder darkness.

Shi'ar: The White Hot Room	August 20th, 2021	Having overcome the nightmare barrier, the X-men and their Green Lantern ally explore the tower in the center of the crystal's city, encountering the mysterious builder, before facing D'Ken and Davan Shakari. The battle seems to fracture the crystal around then (and perhaps all of reality with it), while the version of Jean they have found appears a corpse. Yet James makes contact with the Phoenix, who sweeps them into the center of its domain. It shows them a multitude of Phoenix hosts across time as they ask for their friend's return. The Phoenix agrees, although the process means they will be bonded again - and it demonstrates anger toward Lilandra for the Shi'ar's meddling. Soon after that, they are all ejected from the crystal, returned to the surface of M'Kraan for Illyana to transport home.
Shi'ar: Into the Crystal	August 15th, 2021	The X-Men break some perfectly good space quarantine gear and finally make contact with the M'kraan crystal, sensing a disturbance caused by D'Ken's meddling. Once inside its impossible space, they feel as though they can almost reach the center of everything, only to be cast into a void filled with the greatest horrors of their own souls.
Shi'ar: Reckoning	August 8th, 2021	Several X-Men and their SHIELD allies follow Jean as she races to save her parents. The Titans arrive to assist. While they're able to defeat the remnants of the Death Commandos and several strange Shi'ar androids, Davan Shakari brings a mysterious young man to the encounter. Jean calls upon unknown aspects of the Phoenix to revive her father, dying from a heart attack from the stress of the attack, but is then seemingly destroyed -- or absorbed -- by the mysterious figure.
Shi'ar: Sic Itur Ad Astra	August 8th, 2021	Illyana transports a team of X-Men (and a Green Lantern consultant!) to another Galaxy and the Shi'ar planet M'kraan. There, they find a world under ancient quarantine, a dead city of science, alien signage, Oan mysteries, and at the end of a long trail, a crystal containing incredible energy.
