Profile
Chased away from her home planet of Tamaran by an invasion from a rival alien empire, the displaced princess Koriand'r, otherwise known as Starfire, is now upon Earth, where she hopes to do some good in the world.
Timeline
Ic Journal:
2020: Koriand'r discovers that the 'mustard' treat on Earth tastes suspiciously like the yunthrak plant.
Timeline:
2000: On a most joyous day, Princess Koriand'r of Tamaran is born unto her parents, with an elder sister, at that time, intended to take over the throne when her parents should pass on.
2005: Koriand'r annoyed her more serious elder sister most tremendously, and they got into a fight which ended up with Koriand'r grounded, even though her elder sister started it. Also, she had acquired a younger brother somewhere along the way.
2006: Koriand'r and her younger brother find themselves in harmonious accord, whilst her serious elder sister was of the brooding and grim sort, in spite of the growing Kori's attempts to sway her otherwise!
2008: Koriand'r discovers that she enjoys the famous yunthrak treat, a seedy pudding made from a bitter plant.
2011: Kori changes her royal tutor from Hozz'ol, a greybearded old warrior who was training her in arts martial to X'hathini, a more scholarly woman. Hozz'ol had volunteered to set up the defenses against a growing menace from an alien empire.
2012: Kori's parents, for reasons unknown to her, begin to favor her for succeeding, instead of her elder sister. Her elder sister takes this news poorly. Her first act of vengeance is to destroy the yunthrak plant gardens that Kori was having the royal gardener growing on one of Kori's darkest days so far. More dark days would come, soon.
2018: Things become unclear here; as in the chaos of Tamaran's defenses falling, many rumors fly about. Some said Kori's elder sister betrayed Tamaran. Some say that she tried to bargain for the safety of Tamaran. Whatever the case, Kori knew not. She had been enslaved by the alien empire that had their eyes set upon Tamaran for some time.
2020: After a few years imprisoned by the enemy empire, Koriand'r manages to steal a starship, and escape - flying her starship towards that third rock from the Earth Sun...!

Personality
Joyous Warrior Princess:
The Earth and her ways are strange to her, but she sees sleeping in the populace of the planet one thing that fuels her - hope, and a potential for greater and further good. It would be easy to call her naive, but it is true that Kori prefers to trust in the better nature of people and events, and not succumb overmuch to casting too much doubt upon the nature of others.
Evil actions most swift and terrible, should be met by equally as swift actions from those who would fight for good, however!
But friends should be made easily, and earnest decisions to turn from evil actions should be supported, and encouraged, and Kori is often providing that warmth and encouragement. Energetic, and fearless in her pursuit and defense of others, Kori can dial down that ferocity when she needs to, and enjoy food (a lot of it) and fun with her friends when the situation calls for it.

Powers
Flight:
Starfire can use her stored energy to propel herself forward, which will leave a 'trail' of UV energy to beings that can detect such things. Although, to the naked eye, well, she might look a bit like a comet at a distance with the distortion that energy release gives.
Language Absorption:
Starfire can completely learn a new language, should she smooch someone who knows a language properly. It'll be a longish smooch, about a half minute to a minute, depending on just how complex the language is. Tongue is certainly not necessary. Lip biting is right out.
It has been theorized, by Gargan Klax of Minos-9, one of the galaxy's most fervent researchers on Tamaranean physiology, that this ability evolved and came about because of the myriad of languages in ancient Tamaranean times, and the person who first displayed it was Genghis Khan-like in uniting the disparate tribes of Tamaran, and in other ways, soooo this ability is well-respresented throughout the Tamaranean species.
A gaggle of leading Kree scientists think Dr. Klax is full of it, but no one really can explain how this works.
Starbolts:
One of the most iconic ways that Starfire can use her stored energy is in the form of 'starbolts', brilliant green blasts of heated energy that impact like energy bolts typically do - with some kinetic force and heat/energy burning. She can modify just how this energy is released, and do groovy tricks like shoot it out of her eyes, although she typically prefers her hands. These beams can be thin and burny, or big, almost literal 'fireballs' that she can toss.
Strength:
Starfire, like most Tamaraneans, is super strong. She can lift like 25 tons or some other ridiculous number - in relative terms, not as strong as the Superpeople or Wonder Woman, but a step or two beneath that.
Toughness:
Tamaraneans are a warrior race, and she can take a bit more of a beating than human beings can. And things like energy attacks, or radiation, she's typically resistant to due to the nature of her powers. She's bulletproof, to an extent - a big enough bullet can hurt her, of course. And while a sword wielded by a human will be silly, a tough enough sword wielded by someone with super strength can and may cut her.
Uv Energy Battery:
To sum up Starfire's powers: like an awful lot of alien creatures, she can take ultraviolet energy, typically from solar radiation, store it, and release it in blasts affectionately called 'starbolts'. She can draw this energy from other sources of ultraviolet radiation fairly unconciously - she knows that things like tanning in the sun and/or in a tanning bed feel 'good', and give her a boost, and being in dark caves generally feels gloomy or bad.
She won't die if she doesn't get sun, and if she gets food and nutrients through other means, but her powers will dwindle as she uses her 'reserves', and eventually leave her powerless. Although effectively, this takes a long, long time or a lot of power usage. And she'll feel sick and depressed.
Skills
Battle and Tactics:
Like the tutors that would teach her other subjects, she was also trained in battle by the finest Tamaranean generals and soldiers. She is well-versed with Tamaranean war-tech (which doesn't translate very well to Earth stuff), and generally knows how to hit people with swords and spears, and is a decent shot with ranged weapons (just decent, her skills are rusty since she can just fling starbolts everywhere). Ah, and she has a decent knowledge of the more administrative side of fighting, tactics, logistics, so on.
Tutored:
The finest tutors on Tamaran were enlisted to teach Koriand'r the basics; reading, writing, maths, the sciences; and Koriand'r was a good student. Not the best, or brightest, but she has a fair to vaguely understanding of most subjects.
Resources
Royal Heritage:
While accessing this might be dicey due to alien invasion and the complicated family situation, Koriand'r has a real claim to the throne of Tamaran, and probably has a fair number of supporters amongst the populace of Tamaran.
Weaknesses
Headstrong:
Koriand'r can be very very stubborn, and can be willing to react very strongly and briskly to things she doesn't entirely understand yet. While oftentimes a weakness, this can sometimes be a strength of hers, enabling her to react quickly to threats and sundry.
Naivete:
Koriand'r often prefers to believe in the best in people, and sometimes this can be exploited against her.
Obvious Alien:
Koriand'r is tallish, orange, and often glowing green. And/or flying. The average Earthperson can easily tell she's not from Earth.
Solar Dependence:
Like a hedge of roses, Starfire needs sunlight to keep going. As described in her energy battery power, she won't /die/ as long as she eats food too, but no sun will eventually mean she'll get run down and depressed, not to mention powerless.
