A Russian spy and assassin turned SHIELD Agent and Avenger; Black Widow was trained her whole life to believe in nothing but her orders, and to value no one; not even herself. She can act like a normal person, and that's spooky.

Timeline:
1934: Born to Unknown Parents
1942: During Nazi attack on Stalingrad used as a runner for the Soviet army and other assignments.
1943: Donated by or taken from her parents and placed in the care of a mysterious government agency.
1943-1957: Trained and 'conditioned' unceasingly in the Red Room facilities for the Black Widow Project. She is the standout student of her 'class' most of whom 'wash out'. She is given numerous 'minor' missions - some staged, some not, never telling her which is which - to test her progress and aptitude.
1957: 'Comes of age' with her first kill.
1961: 'Graduates' as the newest Black Widow, and is 'given over' to the KGB. Early on she is established with the cover of a skilled ballerina, and she is made to marry Soviet Test Pilot Alexi Shostakov. After a time, Natasha is informed of Alexi's death during a mission.
1962-2016 Missions redacted. Secrets are stolen and destroyed, facilities and operations sabotaged or destroyed, with little to no trace of a culprit. A few people die who can be linked to the Black Widow. Many people die who can not. Natasha never questions her purpose in life, but privately harbors doubts as to whether someone like her should exist at all. At various points she is frozen in stasis and awoken for assignments and periods of upheaval, or simply to be reindoctrinated to whatever new branch of government has taken power in any given year.
2016: SHIELD sends agent Clint Barton to assassinate Natasha. Through a... complex series of events, Clint chooses to spare Natasha's life and recruits her into SHIELD. A noteworthy portion of the year is spent under observation and questioning.
2017: Natasha is authorized as a SHIELD agent and undertakes continuous successful operations in their service, rapidly becoming one of their most reliable assets, despite any misgivings one might have about her.
2018: Clint is brainwashed by Loki, and Natasha battles to save him and foil Loki's plans, unwittingly participating in the formation of the Avengers. She is made a liason between SHIELD and the Avengers, a task which often functionally makes her part of the team.
2020: Natasha continues to aid the Avengers in heroic fashion, and undertake classified missions for SHIELD in often shadier fashion.

The Heroic Assassin:
Natasha is a paradox in a lot of ways, oweing to her innate morality conflicting with a lifetime of violent conditioning. She values human life, to an extent, but has little trouble shutting that part of her away on a moment's notice to take one away. Raised in an environment that discouraged and stifled individuality, yet trained her to blend in and adapt to any situation - to be whoever she needed to be - Natasha is not totally clear on where the line is between her personality and her performance. In many ways she doesn't know who Natasha Romanova is; but she knows how to pretend to be the Natasha she wants to be. Her composure is so indoctrinated into her that she essentially needs to put on a performance to convey her actual feelings, much less come off as human in any circumstance.

Which is not to say she's berefit of wit or personality. She can be wry, and a bit of a flirt at times, and has little patience for posturing and general nonsense on the job. She is a clever, quick-thinking individual who wants to be something better than she was 'born' to be; with a soft spot for children and an almost pathologically fierce protective instinct over the few people she's let get anywhere close to her - or at very least, who've let her get close to them. She is not overly concerned with the moral implications of many of her missions at least insofar as they don't directly hurt innocent people. Her definition of 'hurt' maybe narrower than yours.

She's a person who wants somewhere to belong after patriotism failed her; and to an extent will be who she thinks she needs to be to make that happen while protecting what's important to her.

Physical Conditioning:
Natasha is the product of a lifetime of physical conditioning and discipline, and the result is a body capable of olympic-level feats of agility, stamina, and athleticism; possessing far more strength than her smaller frame would suggest, and the ability to forego sleep for days on end without any clear detrimental effects.

Scientific Conditioning:
Due to her biological and technological conditioning, she has uncommon strength speed and stamina for her build, though not outside the range of human limitations. Right at the border, though. She also seemingly does not age at a normal rate, appearing youthful despite what should be an advanced age; though cryogenic freezing has muddied those particular waters somewhat.

Acrobat:
Natasha Romanova is capable of acrobatic feats that shame the average human's capabilities, and some that would broadly be considered impossible, such is her conditioning and coordination.

Gunslinger:
Natasha has a lifetime of training in the use, maintenance, and construction of most human-made firearms on Earth, and can use them with terrifying accuracy.

Hand-To-Hand Combat:
Natasha is a whirlwind of death when it comes to melee combat, able to decimate larger opponents with pinpoint strikes and keep them off balance, frequently while using her opponents own bodies as the manuevering point to keep herself out of their reach. She is not durable, but she is... inconveniant to hit.

Infiltration:
Natasha is an expert at getting herself places where no one wants her to be without getting caught - when possible. Success can vary depending on the intel and preparation afforded to her.

Languages:
Natasha is fluent in most major human languages, and can accurately affect accents to accompany most of them; though local dialects can slip through the cracks.

Marksmanship:
Natasha's accuracy with most long range weapons - thrown or otherwise - is uncanny.

Melee Weapons:
Natasha is proficient in the use of a number of melee weapons - staffs, knives, tonfa and long blades - but she would not consider herself a master of any of them.

Sabotage-and-Demolition:
If it needs pillars and a foundation to stand, Natasha pretty much knows how to make it collapse. If she can't break whatever needs breaking or burn whatever needs burning, well, that's what explosives are for.

Spycraft:
Natasha was born and raised inside a world of subterfuge, and was hand crafted to operate in it to the exclusion of a normal life. She is an immaculate actress, proficient in disguise; creating and deciphering coded message and double-speak, and remaining unseen when needed (and possible). She is the culmination of Russia's latest efforts to create the best possible operative.

Avengers:
Natasha is a semi-official member, frequent ally - and dare she say, friend - of the organization of Super Heroes known as the Avengers, and can conceivably call on their support if needed.

Contacts:
The majority of Natasha's life was dedicated to the world of spycraft and assassination, and she still has many contacts in government, organized crime, and the shady area in between. How forthcoming those contacts will be after her defection is another matter, but she can access them if she needs to.

Gauntlets:
The bands on the wrists of Natasha's costume are a series of cartridges containing, among other things; a 100-foot spring loaded cable, a communication device, tear gas pellets, and a few charges worth of a projectile electric blasts capable of stunning or incapacitating men within a range of 20 feet, with diminishing returns for distance.

Goggles and Mask:
Tony Stark created a sleek, high tech pair of goggles for Natasha that feeds her adjustable amounts of UI information on elements in her field of vision/immediate surroundings, as well as allowing her to see in various visual spectrums - such and infrared/thermal vision, and night-vision - on command. It covers her ears and feeds them audio input. In addition, the goggles have two additional modes; one which extends it into a 'mask' that covers her entire face. In this mode, and the next, it feeds her a supply of air, though not to the extent of breathing under water; and it also amplifies and slightly filters her voice to adjustable levels. The third mode causes it to completely encase her head like a full head mask. While not as protective as as a helmet, it does completely obscure her identity, giving her greater security when Avengers business forces her to appear in view of cameras without compromising her ability to operate undercover. She sees through two red lenses over her eyes, with three more red 'eyes' on each side give her the appearance of eight narrow, angular spider-eyes. The intensity of the glow can be adjusted, or turned off entirely.

Guns:
Natasha usually carries at least one light-weight pistol on her at any given time; two if she can get away with it.

Shield:
Natasha is a four-year agent of SHIELD, and has access to the various resources on offer from that organization; though it's debatable how much they truly trust her with.

Utility Belt:
Natasha keeps a number of compact resources on her person, often amounting to garotte wire, plastique explosives, and whatever else she may anticipate needing for a mission.

Weaknesses

Attachment Issues:
Natasha was raised around people who could die or vanish during training on a moment's notice; spent her life killing and watching government powers and handlers replace each other without her noticing; and the one man she was encouraged to get close too died suddenly and unceremoniously without even the decency of leaving a body behind. Getting attached to people - or even a homeland - and considering them as something that couldn't just disappear at any moment, can be a bit of a challenge. When she does, their loss can seem almost impossible to cope with.

Limited Ammunition:
Natasha can only fire as many bullets as she can carry, and once she's out, she's out.

Morally Compromised:
Natasha has done things that would turn your hair white, and she would very much prefer that most people never learn of them. Furthermore there may be times when the 'right' thing to do is much farther from her mind than the 'expediant' thing to do in regards to an enemy or problem.

Red Room:
Black Widow is a rogue asset from Russia's deadliest known organization. If they don't want her back, they probably want her dead. Their agents could be anywhere or anyone, and there's no guarantee that their indoctrination of Natasha didn't leave behind and hitherto unknown trigger commands.

Madelyne gets a peek into a relatively quiet moment inside of her new community, Talia reflects on the twisting possibilities she's lived through and the way that war touches all of them, Camille studies passionately then swears to take Stryker's eyes one day, Rogue keeps rowdy Institute students in check, and Micola shares a brief moment with her sister-in-law. Diplomacy is attempted by one side, ignored by the other. Things blow up. Lorna Dane rages in defiance, and is saved by Pietro as his sister's lost treasure is turned against them. Against overwhelming numbers, Diana orders evacuation, but the enemy seems intent upon stopping the alien refugees. Arisia helps ferry them to the moon, at personal cost. Natasha sees to the safety of SHIELD personnel caught in the middle of an organizational struggle. Doom and Clea stand against a stolen arcane horror, that casts doubt to the sanity of their opponents. And J'onn J'ozz searches the minds of the attackers, sees the odd rift between these specialized forces and the US military proper, and encourages that disharmony. In the end, the refugees are saved, but a grim titan is left standing sentinel over the Atlantic Starport.

Amazon security responds, a gun battle is fought int the rotunda, ultimately brought to a close as Diana Prince makes it back from her previous Justice League mission to (mostly) save the day. Now, nearly all of the SHIELD presence at the port find themselves detained while the Amazons decide who they can trust.

Various items are targeted for removal through magical portals, though most, if not all are secured (the TP is all safe). Richard and Nat get to play with big guns, Lara wields something that was probably once in a tomb, and a little Raven flies to Baltimore. In the aftermath, some of those captured are revealed as former WAND agents or consultants.

They discover fully intelligent Brood drones, and not just a Queen, but a multitude of would-be Queens, each made from genetic material stolen from heroes who have previously encountered them. Meanwhile, the Brood begin some sort of space launch and an attempt to contact what seems to be a greater swarm beyond the limits of the local cluster. Although the Hulk smashes their WHOLE MOUNTAIN, things are still going bad and so SHIELD calls in the nukes, which serve as a Phoenix-snack for another psychic assault on the Hivemind. Earth 2, Brood 0. Cue Ewok Song!

Either way, things go bad, and he loses an eye and an arm for his trouble, while Rogue gains another overdose of ageless understanding, this time in a different part of the Celestial heritage: Homo Descendus. Now, back to meet everyone's favorite green guy in a lab coat.
Brood of the Savage Land: The God Machines, Part II	May 5th, 2023	Unsure how to find the rest of the Celestial computer cores (or what to do with them if they did), the heroes use Lemurian legend and SHIELD intel (courtesy of Lara Croft) to locate a ruin potentially tied to early residents of the Savage Land. En route, they are faced by increasingly more well organized members of the dino-brood Hive, and despite an attempted distraction, suffer injuries - and potential infections - in reaching the ruin. In the last moment, they are aided by an inscrutable and likely inhuman figure. Despite its aloof nature, its promises of aid seem their best chance at saving their friends and dealing with the larger Brood threat!

A group of heroic individuals are tasked with guarding the convoy as it hastily attempts a dangerous retreat from a particularly nasty area of the Savage Lands known as 'The Pit'. The Bridge to Hell is paved on good intentions! Or something.

Work that between the research and stolen physical samples could potentially be used to create a powerful genetic weapon capable of truly strange mutations for its targets.

Operation WATCHFUL: Labwork	February 8th, 2023	Examining the sample from the medical lab raid, Agent Simmons conducts her work under careful HAZMAT procedures. In the end, what she finds is both a relief and... very much not. The sample is some kind of engineered retrovirus (with a very curious 'author'), but one that is missing it's DNA payload: a bioweapon without a warhead, leaving SHIELD to wonder what is supposed to go in there. While she works, the rest of the team observes and discusses the broader threat from the Shi'ar across many trajectories. Steve, admittedly, is mostly there for the coffee.
